Question G2 To Imagemagick

Hi, just a quick one this

I have about 100 images in my photopost, I am currently running it on G2
I now want to use imagemagick (as it is was pre-installed on my server ) If I reconfigure pp to use imagemagick will this create any problems with my current setup i.e. my gallery etc.

Regards

Eddie

We provide on our requirements page a phpinfo script to verify your server has all the requirements to install this product before you buy the script.

You must have GD or Imagemagick to operate any gallery program as that is the actual image processor.

If you are attempting to install the script and do not have mogrify installed on the server (imagemagick) your php must have gd installed with it. You would select GD instead of Imagemagick.

If your server has neither one and no SSH access. You host would need to compile imagemagick on the server for you or recompile php with Gd support. If you have SSH access but only to your part of the server you may be able to install a non-root install of Imagemagick

All the info you need to do these things is right on this site.

If you have telenet or SSH access to your server you can type the command

which mogrify

and it will tell you the path to it (if it's installed).

I beleive his statement above says he does not have that to locate mogrify.

I am a firm beleiver than all hosting packages should come with SSH only if limited to your own site area. However there are plenty of hosts out there that do not assign SSH privelidges

You don't need root access to use telnet. Most hosting services that I know of allow telnet or SSH access.

IMHO, if the host does not even know if mogrify is installed (they shouldn't have to "find" it, they should know if it is or isn't there) there are far greater problems then just installing PP

Actually there are a great many hosts out there that do not allow ssh access at all. I know this for a fact.

If you read the posts above he never said he couldn't use telnet or SSH, he said he doesn't have root access. You shouldn't get off the topic of this thread, helping one of your customers with their install. Now, to get back on track my first post still stands

merseybeat, if you don't have telnet or SSH access, then your host should know if mogrify is installed or how to find it if it isn't. If they don't even know what is installed on their servers then I would began to wonder about them as a host.
