| Video Upload - not taking
Howdy, I have read the existing threads on video problems and have tried as best I could to understand them.
I did switch to gd2 tried to upload, but it just dissappears at the end. "No Images to be found" as the other threads. I was able to upload a small 385kb file as an admin, but tried a 2.72mb file - takes the time to upload then the message "No images..." In reading the posts I'm thinking maybe a time out error???
Problem is, I'm new, and theres' a constant reference to the php.ini...
I can't find it... in root or photopost or ?? I know a lot of times people casually refer to file names other than what shows in the directorys so I need a little more details. What is the exact file name that I can change and where would it normally be.. under the root or under the "photopost (as I have mine called) dir or
my path shows:
/public_html/photopost/....
I'm running vbull 3.05, vbportal and photopost. all just upgrade within the last few days...
thanx, the video thing is kewl, just can't get the big ones up.. so suspect timing out, but could be something else???
thanx much,
ps not on powweb or whatever that was...

In php the maximum upload is 2mb if you have not changed it so of course it will not upload.
You either need to change your upload max in php.ini or change the max filesize in Photopost usergroups settings to 2mb

Most people do not have access to change there php settings. You would need to SSH into your server and type which php.ini or locate php.ini and find out where its located.

How do you expect a user to be able to upload a 25MB video file if PHP only allows 2Mb?

Sigh, alright already,
I get the point.....
I just hope it's just that simple and that the php.ini "IS" in fact set that way... I was simply asking if it is already set for large file, what another 'Obvious' fix there might be to save coming back and asking again....
I get the point, I have a note to the host to check..
Thank you...
Hopefully I won't be back... ;-))

Heheh... Yeah, Thanx 'ats' for the note.
I would entirely agree with you, but seems to be the nature of some who have forgotten what "Learning is all about..."...
I still haven't heard back from my ISP re php limit, and certainly hope, for this threads sake, that's all it is...
Heheh.. or, as the Schwarts says.... "...I'll be BAACk..."
thanx for the note of support...
They just don't get it...
Hava good one...

They delete my post? If this happened at my websites the moderator that deleted it would be burned at the post.
All well, thats usually a sign that they know they are in the wrong and just are not big enough to step up to the plate and admit that.
If I was the boss, this guy would either get a talking too, or be gone.
No one that likes to hide behind their mistakes will work for me!

All well, back to subject at hand, I had the same problem you did fpoole, the only thing is that I own my own hosting company with many servers. Thus meaning I fixed the problem myself in about 4 minutes, and it worked fine.
Im sure you will be all fixed up after your host contacts you, and if they dont, come talk to me, I will host you.
Im sure they will get in touch soon and you will be well on your way to enjoying the features of this product.
The features keep me using photopost, lord knows its not the respect from the moderators around here.
I have some important things to attend to, so take care, and report back if you get it all sorted out!
later

Yes I deleted your post because you where quite rude and brought nothing to this discussion and that as explained in the reason why I deleted it which should have been sent to you by email if you have notifications on. Any post that is of a derogatory nature that adds NO benefit to any thread other than to pick a fight has a right to be deleted edited or anything in between. It is a simple rule on every forum.
A user came here asking about an issue. Every question he asked was answered quickly and politely. He stated twice he did not beleive the information that I gave him and it might not be the issue. You might want to reread this thread because you will see I am quite correct here.
I asked a simple question since he twice posted that he was not sure my answer was correct. Quote: |
How do you expect a user to be able to upload a 25MB video file if PHP only allows 2Mb?
| Then you want to jump all over the thread calling me rude etc for asking a simple question
Your wrong my friend and if anyone is due an apology it is I.

Omeg,
You are absolutely WRONG...
and this is probably the problem... you were rude, seemed to have taken great delight in showing that you know more than a user by being Rude in your posts.
Obviously, IF,
(and it's yet to be determined as I just got the limit set to 15 mb and upon uploading got an error)
, the OBVIOUS is that you can't upload more than a set limit... Doh???
it doesn't take an idiot to figure that one out.. .
What I WAS asking was IF that limit had already been set to 15mb (don't know what it was before) What ESLE would be a possible problem error so I wouldn't have to come back.
'ats' saw that right away as I would guess most anyone else, and was suprised, as I was, at you're actions with the reply..
So, not sure where you're coming from, but you're way outta line here...
This thread is through and when you see me post a plea for help, don't bother. I'll wait till I get someone that Wants to help others and not just feed their ego...
Thanx, but no thanx Chuck....

Omegatron, Ive noticed in quite a few threads that you assume or rather expect some of these new photopost users to know certain things, when infact they do not. Something that seems obvious or easy for you, may not be for someone else. I am not questioning your involvement and eagerness to help someone, I am stating that I find you a bit rude sometimes as noticed by several in this forum. I am not trying to pick a fight with you, I was just encouraging fpoole not to quit posting his issues on this board, just because your approach leaves alot to be desired. Maybe your just not a people person, and thats ok, but I would think they would have someone running the board that was.
If you want to know why I thought you were a bit rude, then here is my explanation:
You answered his question here: Quote: |
Of course it is going to be a problem and quite a big one. You cant allow upload which are larger than php allows
| In this direct quote you say "of course it is going to be a problem", well he didnt know that until now did he? This could be interpreted to be a bit rude, but if everyone was that picky it would be impossible to run a board, correct? I dont think you were rude here, although some might.
He replied here to your answers : Quote: |
ok, thanx much... I don't know if it IS that problem or not, but will check it out..
| As stated above, he said thank you for your help and was going to check with his hosting provider with your suggestions. If you read his post, he just wanted to cover all ends , and asked you if it could be something else AS WELL as the phpini file.
Then we get to your next comment following his thank you: Quote: |
How do you expect a user to be able to upload a 25MB video file if PHP only allows 2Mb?
| Now this seems rude to me. You already answered his question, and he was going to check it out with his host. He said thank you, end of story in my opinion! This was totally unnecessary as you already explained to him what your suggestion was, and he was on his way to get it taken care of.
So why would you even add that comment omegatron? Heck, you even came back over an hour later, and he already said thank you, just to post that rude remark!?!
You implied that fpoole should have known this, and he was stupid for even wasting your time with this question.
The post was done, but you had to come back OVER AN HOUR LATER and make this remark, WHY???
If fpoole did not agree with me about your approach then do you think he would have posted this: Quote: |
Sigh, alright already, I get the point.....
| I believe he says "I get the point" more than once in that post.
Your last remark was unnecessary and was rude, plain and simple.
Then I make a comment trying to encourage fpoole to come back and post his results, you simply delete it, because you have the power to do so on this board.
You tell me it was deleted because it added nothing to the thread. Well, I believe that your last post added nothing to the thread considering it had already been solved.
At the beginning, you helped professionally with his problem, by the end of the thread you made remarks to make him feel like he was stupid by not having this knowledge you assume everyone is born with.
I dont really care you deleted the post I made, you have the power to do so, so good for you.
Get an apology from me? I dont think so bud!
You mine as well close this thread, it needs aborted now, as its not going to benefit anyone now.
