Install/Upgrd Error header-inc.php on line 18

I've spent apx 1 hour looking for solutions, found the one about the paths. checked mine, appear to be ok.

I upgraded vbull to 3.05, now doing ppost from a previous install. vb went surprisingly smoothly so went on with ppost. Did a site yesterday the same thing and went ok.

I thought I'd be clever and modify the config-inc and config-int from copied paths in the pp Options and Admin pages. I've checked numerous times and "Äppears" to be correct.
Have been getting these errors after several re-installs.

Any thoughts.

I later found instructions in this forums regarding the config-inc but conflicting. Yes modify, No modify... so now confused and lost...
Help??
thanx....
ps. path to forum is /portal/forums with an "s"

In looking a little further, might this be the culprit??

if ( VB3_INTEGRATION == "on" ) {
chdir($vbpath);
require("./global.php");

The vbull forums and ppost gallery are all under the /portal/ dir..
like: /public_html/portal/gallery
so not root? /globle is actually
/public_html/portal/forums

assuming it's referencing the vbForums "Global"...
If so, change it?? or not...
just trying to find it....
thanx

Of course you need to proper paths to the forums and gallery. That goes without saying.

I visit your site and it looks fine so you still have an issue?

Hmmm.. actually, I was just now 7:41pm Sunday, able to get it back up...

Apparently, according to an installer I finally had to get, there IS a problem with the header-inc? (whatever) and in trying to solve that without knowing it, reran the install, missed taking out the pp_ and thus created a whole new set of tables but more to the problem, sent the user permissions to the new tables... that were empty.

Anyway, the install (should have been an upgrade) but didn't give that option as it did yesterday when I did it on another site..

Confusing to say the least, but now - hopefully - back up and running.. will let the dust settle before deleting the pp_ new empty tables...

ps. I had to use their config-inc to get past the header errors... and it worked just fine...

Thanx for checking though...

Yep installation and upgrade are two different things. There are installation instructions and there are upgrade instructions each are different. Glad you figured out your issue.

yeah, I don't know if you carry any weight down there, but I would have found it much simplier if there were to separate links in the member area with a specific page

JUST for upgrades..
and another one
JUST for installs,

as I said, when I ran the script yesterday I had the option to "upgrade", today when I ran the otherscript, I didn't... althought it appears to be the same download and just the question of putting install/upgrade.php or install/install.php it would have been helpful to keep the two separate..

Just my thoughts on it..
Having to go here and there and then somewhere else for the lastest and greatest is confusing...
One stop for upgrades
One stop for installs...

hava good one..

There is no installs directory.

This is why there is a documentation directory with upgrade instructions.

I know of who software vendor who provides separate downloads for installs and upgrades.

The customer would download the program and follow the appropriate instructions.

This is how it is handled in most software I know of.
