Problem with PhotoPost Uploading - Please Help

I'm currently running PhotoPost version 4.8c on my web site at www.sharedinspiration.com/photopost/index.php, on a server hosted by PowWeb. They are currently running PHP Version 4.3.10

At this time image uploads are not working. I have tried various work-arounds, but none of them have worked. Do you know if this is a problem that may be corrected by upgrading to the current PhotoPost version 4.86?

Powweb upgraded PHP and locked down there tmp directory

Check this thread for info that will correct this. Powweb even tells you this in your ops panel and what to do to get file uploads working again.

Help! Won't let me upload

Ok Thanks for the help!
I have done this so far. I have changed some of the original code in my php.ini to this

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; File Uploads ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; Whether to allow HTTP file uploads.
file_uploads = On

; Temporary directory for HTTP uploaded files (will use system default if not
; specified).
upload_tmp_dir = /www/r/rcflix/htdocs/tmp

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 20M

I have added a tmp directory to the htdocs folder.

I must still be missing something or did something wrong because it still doesnt work.

Do I have to change anything in Admin of Photopost?
I looked and couldn't find any ref to a tmp uploads directory.

Thanks
Steven

Did you place the php.ini file in your web root?

Are you trying to still use Imagemagick?

Try switching to GD2

I left the php.ini file where it originally was. All I did was add the code and upload it back to the server. Forgive my ignorance but is the root directory the directory that contains the website?

I switched to gd2 and the problem still exists.

I started a test user if that would help.
The user id is test
password is password

Well your tailing on the end of a discussion about powweb servers hense my response to upload to the web root to override the server defaults.

If your on a powweb server which I beleive it told me when I visited your site you would do as I suggest.

Powweb in fact has posted these very same instructions to there customers on there control panel under news and updates

There is your problem.

You must make sure tmp folder exists where you say it exists inside htdocs and your php.ini belongs in your webroot. Your webroot htdocs thus move the file inside the htdocs

As you can see from my less than basic knowledge of these things. Is their anyone you can suggest that I can hire to help with this in the future?

Also, no error message appears. I just get the screen that says
"No more images found." Just as if the image has been uploaded. Yet, no uploads appear.

If you are trying to trail on the end of someone else's support thread a little info might help. If your on powweb do the steps in this thread. If your host has upgraded to php 4.3.10 you might need to contact them to see how to open uploads back up as the tmp directory is locked down in that version.

I started this thread with the title "Problem with PhotoPost Uploading - Please Help"
I was just responding to Interdit's reply to my message.

LOL right you did.

Your started it but never posted again.

Yep you would do as I have stated in this thread and you will be able to upload. Powweb has also got instructions on this in your control panel altough I think mine are easier to understand

Hello Omegatron, your knowledge is vastly needed.

I followed all the instructions on this post as powweb's sucked. either ways files would not upload. Powweb says to place the tmp file in the root directory with htdocs, and you say to place it inside the webroot (inside htdocs) well setting the path to a temp outside with htdocs and it does nothing, however when i follow your instructions i get this error on the top of the page:

Warning: chdir(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 104038 is not allowed to access / owned by uid 0 in /www/u/underlabstudios/htdocs/photopost/header-inc.php on line 110

this is what i have in my php.ini file:

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; File Uploads ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; Whether to allow HTTP file uploads.
file_uploads = On

; Temporary directory for HTTP uploaded files (will use system default if not
; specified).
upload_tmp_dir = /www/u/underlabstudios/htdocs/tmp

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 20M

now the thing is powweb has 2 sets of paths one being a root directory which is what i have in the php.ini now and then there is a document path whihc is what i used for all the photopost paths, changing these paths from document to root results in photopost not working at all. I honestly dont know what to try now and i did everything in these threads.

Underlab It does not matter if the tmp directory is in your root or htdocs folder

The php.ini needs to be in the htdocs folder

As far as safe mode being on I don't think powweb runs with safe mode on but you can override it by placing this in php.ini

safe_mode = Off

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; File Uploads ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

; Whether to allow HTTP file uploads.
file_uploads = On

; Temporary directory for HTTP uploaded files (will use system default if not
; specified).
upload_tmp_dir = /www/u/underlabstudios/htdocs/tmp

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 20M

;safe_mode = Off
