Hey Cool OK..thing just died no explain

No error nothing.

Suddenly thumbnails would not appear yet pictures were all still appearing behind thumbs. All photos in Data Dir are where expected along with thumbs. Through Admin we tried to rebuild thumbnails which is when "Thumb not available" image disappeared. Running this command a second time caused all the larger images to disappear.

Check for and create missing thumbnails. nothing happens
Rebuild all thumbnails. nothing happens
Rebuild all medium images. nothing happens
Check here to recalculate photos/posts numbers and check children. everything disappeared

Photopost 4.8.2

Nothing I can do to help unless you have backups of your mysql tables and data directory

data directory is intact as my email suggests

there is no excuse for this type of program behaviour

how can it be repaired quickly and without fuss

As I stated unless you have BOTH the data files ( which you state you have ) you also need to have the old photos table? comments table etc

There is nothing in our program that can do this. Your entire install looks brand new. No comments or anything. Did you do a reinstall with another table prefix?

The above action is the only thing that explains a clean looking install or if you dropped your mysql database and did a reinstall

Look at your users table you only have 1 user

I updated the software... clean install Dec 13 2004 it's standalone. I loaded the database w/489 images, thumbs nicely created, everything working or so it seemed.

Around december 31, Jan 01, 02 thumbnails disappeared were replaced with "white thumb missing" image I looked at admin section. no changes from dec 13 on. since there is ONLY one user and that user depends on those images for livelihood there is no reason to play. I sure hope other people out there don't run a photo gallery as a single user that'd be like, a crime or something eh?

I'd would upload the database but it won't post is too big for this tiny window, or I'd upload 489 images but it might take a bit too long.

This domain gallery, based on instructional materials know to all users appeared to work fine for 2 weeks.

On it's own after being put to use, probably a dozen times or so, it broke and decided to join thousands of other support questions looking for an answer.

So yeah, it probably looks brand new and that's what my problem description aludes too, at least that's how I read it before i submitted it.

I put the pictures in they automatically fell out a couple weeks later then the admin section fails to operate just like my post says. you must have missed something or I did not fully explain the predicament?

When you view your Photos table is it empty?

hense why I asked if you tried to install it again and had two different databases and maybe you changed the prefix to another install that has no photos loaded.

Basically the program is reporting the photos and comments tables are empty.

If you have backups there a way to get them back but thats only if you have a mysql backup

PM me an admin login and link to phpmyadmin so I can see your mysql tables

yeah i just did a clean install of 4.86

now blanks screens. rather odd program it never asks to include a admin user or password anywhere during an install when told to combine with vb3.

I told it to use the vb3 user base, but that won't log anyone one in since the user table in pp_ is empty nobody home

Of course it is not going to ask you for an admin user or password for a VB3 install since you already have a admin and we authenticate against the vb database not pp_user table

Okay well your post above sounded like you did not know that

You most likely can not login when integrating with vb3 with your vb3 login because you did not align your cookie settings and enter the vb license number when installing.

If you post a url and admin login via PM I can help you align them

// VB3 License Number required for VB3 integration
// You can find this number by checking your index.php file in your vB3 directory
// The 4th line in the file looks like:
// || # vBulletin 3.0.0 - Licence Number ########
// It is the ######## number you need to place below.

DONE

cookie setting for vb is "bb"

Forum Cookie Prefix cookieprefix Some Default values vB3: bb, phpBB2: phpbb2mysql, ...

BB -> done

PhotoPost Cookie Domain cookie_domain .yourdomain.com; sets the cookie to be usable acro... .ongaros.com

.ongaros.com -> DONE

identical settings to vb3

Must all be correct now have full admin access

Still blank screen front page

I should be able to use sql to import the former cat descriptions?

Then just recreate thumbs standard way etc, etc?

Or have those tables changed?

OK I'm back to the first post.

Program is dead in water. Admin runs let's me do some stuff.

I have no access to upload anything and no batch upload that I can see, at least I can't find anything since the front entry page to the gallery remains blank.

So can't even put images into NEWLY CREATED cats and try to force it to build thumbs based on the images in the category.

Brian I asked for link to phpmyadmin to see your database

As far as your program being a white nothing check to ensure all files are uploaded and correctly permissioned.

Run the install after checking this ensuring you have the correct connection info and let me check thats in your databases to see what we can do about your photos

Thanks omegatron

check you pm for details

I'm going to reinstall does not take much time, just overwrite all the .php files. I have all the images so no big deal. the installed grabbed all defaults on it's own I changed some permissions (in case it would work) for users.

Okay do you have any mysql backups?

Because if you do not there is nothing you can do to get photos back unless you upload them one at a time

well then you would need to do a complete reinstall delete everything except the data directory and then reinstall. You can delete the photopost tables since there is nothing in them you want anyway. That way you can be sure your not making the same mistake that is giving you a white screen of death. That usually is associated by not having all the files uploaded especially templates.

You did a complete reinstall?

You followed the installation instructions to a tee?

Reason I ask is the only way anyone gets a white screen is as I stated from one of two things.

1. Not uploading the templates hense there is nothing for the program to print hense your source code of the page or permissions wrong on them

<html><body></body></html>

2. Corrupt or Altered files that cause a parse error. Have you tried downloading a fresh zip to ensure your files are okay

If you continue to have an issue trying to install the program all I can suggest at this point is to purchase an installation
