Well I have already stated the steps you need to take to complete this.
You can do one of two things. Install this correctly with VB3 integration or use the steps I outlined above about specifying the user database integration type etc above to switch things.

hey look...
when i did the default install using all info provided so it's fully integrated with vb3 it did not work... noted by my emails... blank screen can't log in etc, etc. so i took other path and got PP working then move on to integration... if you follow along you'll see there were not allot of errors a very experienced person would not pick up and and quickly provide guidance to repair.
-the cookies are correct
-the pathes are all filled in
-the database item with registration does not stick try it you have admin access I've -tried it numerous times throughout the day as I move along
-the necessary changes were made in vb3 forumhome templates
-the necessary changes were made to vb index.php
-any config file which can be changed is chmod 666
-all other permissions are supposedly correct otherwise i would not be this far
what else do i do?

You did not do as I suggested and set this integration to vb3
You are running now as I changed it for you.
As far as your other white screen I bet you were working off your old table structure. hense the white screen you never ran the upgrades. Nowhere in this whole thread did you meantion you had a 4.0 database for Photopost you said you did a new install December 15th or something like that
You caused your own headaches by not following the upgrade instructions ( white screen ). Your old install was new files old database. DOES NOT WORK
or two not even setting things to vb3 this time around

my forum settings page in PP admin just changed. not the settings but the actual layout has changed... I won't ask.
on page one of this post I alerted to clean install of 4.8.6. Looks like the site is running now... GREAT!
omegatron, thank you for your help. Now I'm wondering why my posting name does not list me as "rocket scientist", since I have so many posts after using this product since 02 like you but only had to make a few posts to get this far
Best Regards

Yeah oh well.
probably this one.
or two not even setting things to vb3 this time around
first time around the database idea is probably right. my bad
second time around i remembered something about making sure PP was working before doing integration of any kind so instead of using external db I used internal and was probably 95% done. you took care of rest thank you.

Hi omegatron,
Site has been running as expected since Jan 7th to Jan 17th. Now inexplicable errors.
Thumbs have disappeared on their own, they need no one's help to do this. http://www.ongaros.com/forum/gallery/
Right now it just seems to be affecting Recent Photos, Most Popular and Random
I have no explanation for this!!!

Not sure i did that the last time and created all the problems. I'll give it a shot and see how much of it stays or goes away.

Ok thumbs are back... but what caused them to disappear in first place?
That's the inexplicable?

There are over 400 images in data directories. This is identical to how the problem started before.
I grabbed this from rebuild thumb screen as photo post went through and destroyed pointers to all images.
Checking photo #711: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild019.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
Checking photo #712: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild012.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
Checking photo #713: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild008.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
Checking photo #714: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild016.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
Checking photo #715: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild010.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
Checking photo #716: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild007.JPG not found, removing from database... done.
Now I tell it to "Rebuild all Thumbs"
Here is reponse (data directories contain all thumbs and images)
Checking photo #386: rebuilding /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl099-thumb.jpg from /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl099.jpg ... completed! done.
Checking photo #387: rebuilding /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl101-thumb.jpg from /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl101.jpg ... completed! done.
Checking photo #388: rebuilding /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl095-thumb.jpg from /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl095.jpg ... completed! done.
Checking photo #389: rebuilding /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl056-thumb.jpg from /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/504/11waterfowl056.jpg ... completed! done.
----------------------
So based on what Admin section says:
Photopost just destroyed 14MB of images. Count changed from 400+ to 108 Disk space from 19.5MB to 5.5
I've FTP'd in site a couple times already... images do appear to be all there.

Now I logged my browser out to clear the cache and see what's what.
I don't appear to be an administrator anymore for the photopost side. I logged in just as i did a few minutes ago with fresh cache... but I can't see admin side from gallery homepage, menu does not appear after login.

Yup she's pooched again. Did not take long.
Images are in data folder. using any commands on admin section of photopost that deal with scanning database does nothing.
I used a secondary admin id and pass which worked. the root one set up when system was setup no longer works to get into admin

Very simple your server paths you have to your data directory need to be verified they are right.
Does you host have a habit of changing those or something? Did you get moved to a new server and they did not tell you?
You can use the php info screen to verify the server path to your photopost program.
This tell me that the image does not exist where your telling the program it is hense it gets deleted
Checking photo #711: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild019.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
If you need assistance PM me a url and a login

I'm looking at the path. It is the same. My Vb license number has changed to "12345678" from the license I placed in there before. wtf? some mysterious things going on here.
can that affect anything?

Question.
Scanning. If photopost sees thumbnails in data dir's would it create thumbs? Or pass it over. maybe I should remove thumbs then rebuild based on images.

As stated if an image does not exist it will be deleted when rebuilding thumbs
Checking photo #711: image /home/.sites/123/site64/web/forum/gallery/data/510/11aliveinwild019.jpg not found, removing from database... done.
So just know if you state the path is right that if you hit rebuild thumbs and the main images are not found that Photopost mysql insert will be deleted

I thought you were going to have a look? I sent info per request.
I have a backup of the entire data directory here, I want to know how this happened. That's the problem the solution is simple, but if the problem continues to surface... then what. Do I reload the gallery every couple of weeks because it just up and disappears?
My client depends on this gallery for his livelihood and you don't want to talk to him right now.
