| Need Some URGENT Help.. OK, to make a short story short, I paid a person to upgrade from 4.8.1 to 4.8.5. He did NOT backup the database, and he overwrote the old config file with the new BEFORE the upgrade. He then proceeded to run mydomain/album/upgrade.php and clicked on the upgrade for 4.7.2
So now, my album works, and is integrated with VB style but it just is not totally right. If I had a backup of the config file, I would just upload it and run the 4.8.5 upgrade script, but I don't. My album is at http://birdboard.com/album http://birdboard.com/forum
I am really needing some help here. I just don't know what to do, and I'm panicking, as I took the site down for a day (today) in order to do the upgrade, and this is my first problem, and it is a big one.
Thank you,
Kevin |

Perhaps posting another thread with some details of what the problem is in the title would help get some attention from the support folks.
A title of "Need urgent help" is redundant in a support forum
It would be helpful also to turn your Gallery back on so the support folks could see what about " it just is not totally right"
Since the person you paid is incompetent you should at least get your money back

| Yes as silver stated it would help to see what we are trying to respond to
If you have a config file backup you would upload that and then run the upgrade4.8.2.php file from your main photopost directory correct. Although as incompetant as the dude seems make sure he uploaded all the files needed. |

| Right. But that's my problem. I don't have the old config file from the 4.8.1 build. I believe if I could just get a copy of the old config file and put my values in there, then upload it and run the upgrade, then it should work. but i don't know what the old config file had in it, so maybe if someone else has a backup from the 4.8.1 build, I can use it?
Thanks for the help

| In that place I would just suggest you work through each one of your issues and try and figure out things. You can post here for help. |

| can I not get a copy of the 4.8.1 config file? i'm not even asking for everything from that build, just the config file so that I can upgrade and get my gallery back online. If I'm not allowed to ask for an old copy of the config, can someone offer some guidance into how to get my gallery back up asap? |

| You have yet in this thread to state a specifc problem your having only that you need an old config file
As we have stated if you want help you need to state your issue.
I do not have an old config to give you or I would post one here but that is imaterial as you can state your issue and I probally could tell you what you need to do. |

| My issue is that the upgrade was not completed successfully. the album does not work right anymore. I am hoping that I can get an old config file, run the upgrade myself, and that will fix some stuff, or at least make it better. If this isn't the best way to go about it, please, do tell. (and the album isn't disabled. I have only replaced uploadphoto and index with the disabled page. all other pages of album work.) |

| well if your seeing support you must state fully what your error is.
Just telling us the upgrade did not work is not going to help either of us.
What errors do you have what is not working as expected |

| First of all, Code: Content visible to verified customers only. on every single page. This, of course, has to do with the database not being correct. I have the 4.8.5 files, but my database is not. The installer ran 4.7.2 upgrade script instead of 4.8.2 like he was supposed to, so God knows how much that screwed up the installation. My database does not look like the 4.8.5 build is supposed to, because the correct upgrade script was not ran. I believe that uploading the old configuration file and running the correct upgrade script will help me out, but i'm not sure. I also cannot log in to the admin panel, even though VB3 integration is working. It is using the database but is not letting me log in. I assume this is also to do with the database. I hope i've provided enough information to at least get me started on a recovery. |

| First did you upgrade just Photopost or both vb and photopost?
I would run every applicable upgrade script from the last version of Photopost you ran to the current. The upgrade script from 4.8 to 4.8.5 is upgrade482.php |

I am running 4.8.5 photopost files with a 4.8.1 database schema. I CAN NOT run the old upgrade files because I DO NOT have the old config file. I have the config file for the 4.8.5 build. That is the reason that I am asking for an old config file. |

| There should be no change from the old config and the new config that would keep your upgrade from running. There is one part that will not insert some queries if a variable is not there and that can be altered by adding in the new config this line before the closing ?>
$onthefly="0"; |

$onthefly="0"; | OK, if I understand correctly, the 4.8.5 build takes values FROM THE 4.8 CONFIG FILE and inserts them into the database. So how am I supposed to run the 4.8.5 upgrade file if I don't have the old config with the values to insert into the database? That's my issue here. |

| Okay Let's work through this one step at a time. The only big thing we have to worry about here after getting the database upgraded is to get your cookie settings straight so you can login and change anything you want.
Can you just do what I stated to do please.
We can go back and manually insert cookie settings into the database so you can login.
You can also edit the upgrade script to add your cookie settings so you will be able to login afterward
find this in upgrade482.php
$query[] = "REPLACE INTO {$pp_db_prefix}settings VALUES (171,'PhotoPost Cookie Path', 'cookie_path', 'This should be set to match the path/domain for your cookies. Setting to / enables entire site.', '$cookie_path', 1, 12)";
$query[] = "REPLACE INTO {$pp_db_prefix}settings VALUES (172,'Forum Cookie Prefix', 'cookieprefix', 'Some Default values vB3: bb, phpBB2: phpbb2mysql, Threads: w3t_', '$cookieprefix', 2, 12)";
$query[] = "REPLACE INTO {$pp_db_prefix}settings VALUES (173,'PhotoPost Cookie Domain', 'domain_path', '.yourdomain.com; sets the cookie to be usable across the domain', '$cookie_domain', 3, 12)";
change to
$query[] = "REPLACE INTO {$pp_db_prefix}settings VALUES (171,'PhotoPost Cookie Path', 'cookie_path', 'This should be set to match the path/domain for your cookies. Setting to / enables entire site.', '/', 1, 12)";
$query[] = "REPLACE INTO {$pp_db_prefix}settings VALUES (172,'Forum Cookie Prefix', 'cookieprefix', 'Some Default values vB3: bb, phpBB2: phpbb2mysql, Threads: w3t_', 'bb', 2, 12)";
$query[] = "REPLACE INTO {$pp_db_prefix}settings VALUES (173,'PhotoPost Cookie Domain', 'domain_path', '.yourdomain.com; sets the cookie to be usable across the domain', '', 3, 12)";

| OK, I have edited the config-inc.php and added the $onthefly variable. What do I need to do next? I had a 4.8.1 database, and the installer ran the 4.7.2 upgrade (not sure if that affected the DB or not). I have 4.8.5 files. Thank you for the help omegatron. Sorry I''ve been such a pain. |

| You need to run the upgrade482.php upgrade as I stated after making the change I said.
You can alter the cookie sql's as I stated above also.
then run the upgrade482.php file
You aint been a pain. You just have not given me anything to go on to help you until now |
