4.8.5 Upgrade Problem

Ok, I followed step #1 and 2 and did not overwrite the config file. I go to upgrade482.php and click, "Proceed to Upgrade -->" and get this:

Preparing to update 4.8.2 database...
Could not connect to PhotoPost database

Now I did not change a single setting and it connected fine before the uploaded files. I double-checked the config-inc.php and everything is correct (why wouldn't it be since we made no changes?).

You left your old config file in place, and you are running the upgrade from your PhotoPost directory (and not PhotoPost/Upgrade directory)?

You should be running the upgrade script from the main PhotoPost directory and not within the upgrades directory (I think thats what ConqSoft meant, anyways).

They are put into a subdir in the distribution just to make it easier to identify which scripts are used for upgrades, but thats not where they are run from.
