Error: Sorry, this image type (6) is not supported yet.

I have been having some trouble this week, after my service provider upgraded PHP so this may be related.

Suddenly my users are getting the message
"Sorry, this image type (6) is not supported yet."
When they try to upload a simple JPG

I sign on as ADMIN and can upload the file.
I sign on as a basic user and try to upload the same file and the "image type (6) is not supported yet."

I checked my settings and nothing appears to be changed. Basic users are allowed to upload and the .jpg is one of the supported file formats.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

What do you mean "basic users"? Do some JPGs upload and some don't? Is it one user or multi users who get that error?

They may have an image type in their uploads directory which isn't supported and the system can't remove - try checking those, too.

Thanks for your reply.
I really only have two types of users: Admin (for me) and everyone else.
I also set up a non-admin account for myself so I could test things from my visitors' point of view.
To check to see if it was just an unsupported type being uploaded by my visitor I signed on as Administrator and uploaded a JPG with no trouble. Then I signed on with my non-administrator account and tried to upload the exact same JPG and got the "unsupported" message. So I do not believe it is the photo that is the problem. I do not see anywhere in the settings where you can define different formats for different users, including admin.
I have not seen this message, nor had it reported to me before.
I started receiving error messages earlier this week that were tied back to a recent upgrade of PHP by my host; they did not have some of the error checking set to default values and it created some headaches until they adjusted the setting. I don't know if that has anything to do with this but the two issues both came up unexpectedly this week.

I registered a username and password on your site and uploaded a jpeg image fine.

However the only cat regular users have access to upload is the members gallery and you have that set not to show.

Michael's suggestion about clearing the upload directories appears to have worked. There were some files in three of the directories. I cleared them out and things appear to be back working. Thanks
