turn embedded mulimedia on or off?

I want to turn embedded multimedia off... I searched and in the beta forum Michael was considering doing this but I haven't been able to find it in the 4.8.5 admin panel... Any insight?

Please don't cross post the same post in multiple forums...

Because there was no feedback, we never added a switch.

Not without modifying the template to the old style or manually adding a switch along with the old style and new style

So, I guess look at both templates and see what's different about them? I'm a hack when it comes to programming but I guess I could try. Has anybody else done this? What if I just took the whole embedding section out of it? Please point me in the right direction.

Exactly You Can Look At A New Showphoto.tmpl And An Old One And Should See What To Do To Get The Old Style Back Until We Support Something Like This

Actually, I believe you can simply remove liknes 386-406 in showphoto.php:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
These templates rewrite the $mmthumb variable with the embedded versions; for now you can just comment out these lines or remove them. In an update, I'll make it so this feature can be disabledvia an option.

This worked perfectly for me... A side note... You can comment out just the stuff you want downloaded directly... Very nice. People can use this for future reference...

I've just installed my first Photo Post website - very nice piece of work by the way. Very impressed with it.

However I was a bit stressed to see the video files streaming - think that would kill bandwidth on my servers.

Glad to see the option to turn them off will be included in the next upgrade - any idea when that will be ?

OK thanks for that Michael. I was going to ask when the last one was (and hence the next one) but I think I found we had one a couple of weeks ago?

I edited the showphoto.php as above and it worked great.

BTW - will we need to re-install the original file when the upgrade is available?

Hey Michael.

One other question. Is is ok if I edit the /languages/english/showphoto.php file on line 15 to show "This is a video, right click on the thumbnail to download" - adding the word "right" makes more sense. Otherwise when they click on the thumbnail the file starts playing in a broswer - same bandwidth problem will occur.
