4.8.5 Upgrade Question

Michael P.:

Looking at the release notes for 4.8.5 it appears that the major thrust of the release was for vB integration.

We don't use vB and are currently happy with our 4.8.2 install.

Are there any security related updates in 4.8.5?

We'll likely stay with 4.8.2 for now unless there's a reason we need to upgrade.

Thanks.

4.8.5 does fix a few not many bugs from 4.8.2 so its always good to upgrade

omegatron:

Thanks, for how we use it, we haven't encountered any bugs that still affect us in 4.8.2.

We were more concerned about if there were any security issues that were corrected. In other words, not including usage bugs, were there any updates in 4.8.5 that would affect overall site security (SQL injection issues, things of that sort).

If we run into any bugs in 4.8.2 as we continue to use it, we'll definitely upgrade but are trying to ascertain how 'quickly' that needs to be (and with the holidays coming up we'd prefer to upgrade after the holidays if needed but would upgrade before that if there was a security issue that might compromise our server).

Thanks.

No security issues that I am aware of.

There are things on the list that are not related to vB3 - if you browse the list and see features you like you might want to upgrade, but you don't have to.

Great, thanks for the response.

We'll likely upgrade at some point but after the holidays. :-)
