Smile Little Help Needed - Post-Installation Problems

My gallery is installed here: http://gallery.tech-arena.com
Version : 4.8.2
DB Information: photopost + vb installed on same db

I am starting to post problems reported by my members:
1.
"alt text" on the thumbs on the main forum page show the path (instead of url)
"/home/sandeep/public_html/gallery/data/509/2Aracnik.jpg"
http://forums.tech-arena.com - check the alt text in IE

2. All users browsing the gallery do not appear on whos online list of gallery

3. Gallery takes lot of time to load i am not sure how to trace the PHP + Mysql load, i am able to do this on forums using third party hack/code from vb.org

4. Check my gallery cateogories, those dont look like categories
with the dark blue background color on category name.
http://www.viperalley.com/gallery/index.php appears perfect to me

5. I want to hide the IP Address viewing to every group, only administrator group should be able to view it.
I would prefer to hardcode this, so IPs are strictly disabled.

6. What exactly is personal albums ?

7. Uploading Photos as Administrator i have foll. issues.
a.
URL of page to parse images from.
What is this options for ? I tried to attach an image from viperally http://www.viperalley.com/gallery/da...18Viper_21.jpg copy/pasted this path in text box i got this error:
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
b.
Skip upload and process the files in your upload directory
What is this option used for ?

c.
Click here to bypass approval process and upload all files in directory
Why is an admin looking @ this message or why is it necessary to display this message to users, who already are enabled/disabled for moderation of images

d.
Show thumbnails during processing?
Even if set to no, users are able to see thumbnails of images.

e. Processing more then 25 files, i get a script time-out error always, a majority of users on my site/forums are on 56 KB dialup connectivity

I would request feedback/answers to my questions point wise for easy understanding when i go through follow them.
I will post more as i catch more probs.

Warm Regards,
Sandy...

On number 4. If you are looking to make the subcategories only show up when you actually click on the Top-Level Category, you need to set the Depth of Child Display to 0 in the Edit Categories section in your Admin panel.

<b.
Skip upload and process the files in your upload directory
What is this option used for ?

c.
Click here to bypass approval process and upload all files in directory
Why is an admin looking @ this message or why is it necessary to display this message to users, who already are enabled/disabled for moderation of images>

All these checkboxes actually only show up on as an admin, these are admin options for bulk uploads. when uploading multiple files just check on these two and everything should go fine, at least they did for me.

1.
"alt text" on the thumbs on the main forum page show the path (instead of url)
"/home/sandeep/public_html/gallery/data/509/2Aracnik.jpg"
http://forums.tech-arena.com - check the alt text in IE

Okay thats how Michael has the alt filled in. It poses no problems.

2. All users browsing the gallery do not appear on whos online list of gallery

They should. Your whos online looked fine to me

3. Gallery takes lot of time to load i am not sure how to trace the PHP + Mysql load, i am able to do this on forums using third party hack/code from vb.org

You can track php/mysql load through SSH and use ps aux to see active processes running etc

4. Check my gallery cateogories, those dont look like categories
with the dark blue background color on category name.
http://www.viperalley.com/gallery/index.php appears perfect to me

Your gallery looks fine using the same css as your forum so I am not sure what you mean by this. Viperalley is a completely different site which runs UbbThreads and a completely different style

5. I want to hide the IP Address viewing to every group, only administrator group should be able to view it.
I would prefer to hardcode this, so IPs are strictly disabled.

Ip's are only shown to those who have adminedit capability

6. What exactly is personal albums ?

They are personal albums that user's create. They are outside the category structure although users may assign personal albums to cats if you let them. Say you could have a personal album of family pictures that may not fit your site or categories but would allow you to have a place to upload family pics.

7. Uploading Photos as Administrator i have foll. issues.
a.
URL of page to parse images from.
What is this options for ? I tried to attach an image from viperally http://www.viperalley.com/gallery/da...18Viper_21.jpg

You use this option to enter an html page to parse image tags from <src> tags

You would not enter direct image links

b.
Skip upload and process the files in your upload directory
What is this option used for ?

You would need to upload images via ftp to your directory and select this to bypass the http upload process and you would get thumbs to enter titles and descriptions based off the files in your uploads directory

c.
Click here to bypass approval process and upload all files in directory
Why is an admin looking @ this message or why is it necessary to display this message to users, who already are enabled/disabled for moderation of images

You would need to upload images via ftp to your directory and select this to bypass the http upload process and process all files and not give you any options to enter anything. This is silent processing

d.
Show thumbnails during processing?
Even if set to no, users are able to see thumbnails of images.

You would need to elaborate and we could investigate this more.
Is it being passed in your url? sample url?

e. Processing more then 25 files, i get a script time-out error always, a majority of users on my site/forums are on 56 KB dialup connectivity

This would depend on your php settings. Only you would be allowed to process that many files unless you specifically allow 25 upload prompts which I do not recommend in your scenerio.

1. I will request a change for same and instead display photo title or the filename in place..

2. I will test the whos online list again, and show/post again with proper example.

3. I am on shared hosting and dont have access to those addons , if there is anyother way will be very helpful.

4. What i meant is, my forum categories have a dark blue background, wereas subcategories under the same have a light blue background, but on photopost the main categories and sub-categories have same background color.
I posted viperallery coz it words fine there, if you check pp gallery categories do have a dark-blue background like forums categories.
http://www.photopost.com/photopost/index.php

5. I have given only mod access to my moderators, admin access is disabled ??? but still they can have a look on the IP, inface all usergroups who are given mod access to gallery can view the IPs, i want to restrict this asap.

6. Thanks for clarification on personal albums

7.
a. From what i understood, parsing a page extracts all the files from that page and gives a user/admin processing power to select files from same ?

b. and c.
Thanks for clarification on this points

d. I have given users an option to upload 10 files simultaneously, there is a drop-down menu - Show thumbnails during processing? with 2 options yes and no.
When selected yes, users can see the thumbnails while processing those files.
But even when set to NO, they can still see those thumbnails.

e. I meant to say here processing files. (After uploads a screen appears to process all the uploaded files), if i am selecting an option to display more then 25 files i get a timeout error everytime.

Your main cats would need to be set to NO THUMBS in the category editor to get that tdnothumbs class

admins and mods see the ip yes

7.

It parses src tags as stated. The page also needs to be a normal html page

I asked for you to post a url to look at so I can see if your passing the variable

Yep and you will continue to get that error. With your current PHP settings you can not process that many files without PHP timing out. Try the current 4.8.5 as we added a php override in there

I cannot give an url to you for that page, coz this happens while uploading, i would request you to kindly create a test account on my gallery and try to upload more then 1 picture simultaneously, and select no from the show thumbnails during processing.
You will get to see the 2 thumbnails

REst all my queries are through............................ HURRRRAy What an awesome SUPPORT MAN

San

Your first two questions involve hacking code and we do not answer those types of questions from a support perspective.

As far as the third Photopost 4.8.6 includes a fix for this

oh. thats sad omegatron .
this things should be added to pp as an additional control for administrators.
I will try to post on photopostdev about hiding the ips.

but.

1.
"alt text" on the thumbs on the main forum page show the path (instead of url)
"/home/sandeep/public_html/gallery/data/509/2Aracnik.jpg"
http://forums.tech-arena.com - check the alt text in IE

This should definetly be changed.. as showing users the gallery path does not makes sense, wears they should be shown the title or the file name instead

Well admins and mods can see ip if you let them. If you have mod access set to yes they will see it if you have it set to no they cant. its already part of our program. If you want them to have mod access but not see IPs thats a hack and this is not that place to ask about such things as I stated.

As far as your alt thing. Your commenting on the coding of a hack your using that is not part of our code. DO YOU KNOW THAT? 4.8.6 has a thumbnail block by default that is supported but your not using that
