thanks michael
I did not understood this part. Quote: |
If you plan to use PhotoPost's internal user registration system rather than interfacing with a forum user database, make sure that $database and $database_bb are both set to the same PhotoPost database.
| Questions:
1. I am going to integrate photopost with my vbulletin user database.
2. I want to use existing database want to prefix all photopost tables to grafix_
3. My forums are installed here: /home/san/public_html/forum
I want to install gallery in: /home/san/public_html/photos
4. Do i need to close my forums before installation ?
5. Do i need to upload all the files I downloaded from .zip file to server ?
6. Do i need to download any other files to integrate with vbulletin 3.0.3 ?
Thanks for prompt reply
Regards,
Sandy...

My Comment - Need a documentation improvement for first time installations..
Still waiting for the answer.. coz i am stuck with installation.
I am not sure what to put into
$database_bb
$user_bb
$password_bb
I have installed my gallery but unable to login now.
I also need to have my forums footer/header and look n feel like forums.
Need to the permissions to be kept on config-inc.php and other files, kept it to 644 as specified in documentation but that gives errors on installing.
I am still hung.
Regards,

Thanks,
Roger
P.S. I only have one installed now and it is 4.8.2 stable It just keeps telling me that I an not a valid administrator or moderator.

thats weird..
I would request to post the complete solution while replying to this message from Staff.
I like to install things on my own with good documentation provided, instead of waiting for hours for someone to reply to a fix.

Well If I am reading you right The config file does not get set to 644. The directions say this Quote: |
Step 1 will let your review and/or set your options in config-inc.php. Your config-inc.php MUST be writable by install for this step to succeed. If you get an error, it is because the server does not have write access to the file. Change permissions to 777 and run again.
| As far as the database variables you talk about you enter just as the install script states. Those are the mysql database entries for the user database. This would be on a internal install the same as the first database settings. You even quoted that above and explains this Quote: |
If you plan to use PhotoPost's internal user registration system rather than interfacing with a forum user database, make sure that $database and $database_bb are both set to the same PhotoPost database.
| Are you trying to edit the config file by hand?
If I go to your install it looks to me like your missing the config file Quote:
Warning: main(config-inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sandeep/public_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 54
Warning: main(config-inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sandeep/public_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 54
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'config-inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/sandeep/public_html/gallery/pp-inc.php on line 54

I removed the config file hence you are getting that error.
I am going to try the installation once again.
What i meant is I am not sure what should be entered in the variables under config file
these variables are confusing me.
$database_bb
$user_bb
$password_bb

That would depend on whether you do an internal registration or external with a forum or not as the manual states.
If your installing the program and using the internal registration this information would be the same as the other mysql info you entered.
If your installing integrating with a forum this info would be the mysql info to connect to the forum database
Thanks
Chuck

Alrite installation went quite sucessfull I also edited the header-inc.php file
this is the modified file now. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
my gallery is here http://gallery.tech-arena.com
These are few more problems:
1.
But when i click on my navbar menus those are giving me wrong link options.
Also the quicklinks menu dont open
2.
If a user is set invisible in forum that user appears as browsing on gallery.
3. http://gallery.tech-arena.com/showph...oto=74&cat=500
Check my signature how it appears on comments, it appears fine on forum postbits as well forum member profile
4.
A bug or problem i have seen,
If a user is on Add your comments area and clicks to rates the photo, blank/empty comments are added to that photo
Expecting fixes for this

You can find instructions in this thread on altering the Vb templates mentioned in that thread to get rid of the relative urls and make them full urls so our program knows where to find those links vB3 Integration FAQ
2.
If a user is set invisible in forum that user appears as browsing on gallery.
We do not have any invisible setting in our program and our who's online is totally separate from the forum. As with Most photopost options you can turn off who's online
3. http://gallery.tech-arena.com/showph...oto=74&cat=500
Check my signature how it appears on comments, it appears fine on forum postbits as well forum member profile
Line 691 of showphoto.php find this
$commenttext[$itemnum] = convert_returns($commenttextline);
add below
$usig = convert_markups($usig);
4.
A bug or problem i have seen,
If a user is on Add your comments area and clicks to rates the photo, blank/empty comments are added to that photo
No bug here. In admin options set the option the way you want where is the options here states
Display ratings that have no comments attached?

You do not need to copy and paste your templates here
You would go to your vb admin and edit the header include footer and navbar templates.
Find the relative paths as example below
href="index.php
and change to say
href="http://www.domain.com/forum/index.php
