Multiple Main Categories/Forums

Sorry to bug with another newbie question but how do you set more than one main category or forum? Similar to the default "Main" that is collapsable. I've tried adding a top level category but that just either adds it under Main or the category list depending on the number I assign.

What I want to do is build multiple categories similar to the forum here.

You add a top level category like you did but if you want it to look like the main when you edit the cat find where it says CONTAINS THUMBS and set this to NO
