[uploading] - failed to open stream: Operation not permitted

Getting this error when uploading:

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
and then

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
php4.82 & vb3,

data and uploads are set to 777,

cookies and vb license is ok

just made the move to a dedicated server, and installed this script:

Secure your tmp directory
http://www.dedicated-resources.com/g...Directory.html

So I'm guessing this is what's causing the problem. Anyone know how to change the directory PP uses for tmp?

Thanks

Nope no ideas on how to make it work with Photopost but locking down your tmp directly like that sure is the problem as that is where file uploads are sent to first.

Did some more research and discovered the 1st of 4 errors was caused by open_basedir protection being enabled without exluding my domain.

fixed that, now I'm just getting these errors

Quote:
Warning: file(test1): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/alkatraz/public_html/photopost/uploadphoto.php on line 220

Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home/alkatraz/public_html/photopost/uploads/3/canada.gif): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/alkatraz/public_html/photopost/image-inc.php on line 34

Warning: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move '/tmp/phpjJqOY1' to '/home/alkatraz/public_html/photopost/uploads/3/canada.gif' in /home/alkatraz/public_html/photopost/image-inc.php on line 34

ok i've got it solved

turns out that even though I chmod'ed the correct folders data and uploads, i had to chmod the folders within them too (because I had transfered them from my old server, and they weren't newly created)

Am I opening up a security risk by chmoding all those folders to 777?

It is the only way you can copy files to those directories.

Any software you install that has directories where users will be uploading files to needs to be 777
