You may discuss code modifications at http://www.photopostdev.com

Our program does not have multi-language support and if your wanting to do this you would modify code.

Is it planned to have multi-language support in PhotoPost pro in near future (e.g. Version 5)?! In my eyes this is an essential thing for international websites as mine.

Since setting PhotoPost productive in a clear and error free design is so time consuming (one must manipulate almost all templates and lots of php-code hacking - try to change colors or font faces and sizes to get 100% results as you expected ) I am not willing to hack lot more to get multi-language support.

So, is this idea planned or should we better not expect this in near future?

Thanks,
Pyro

The problem is this

We can not even get most international users to submit language packs to keep ours current.

Different forums we integrate with have different language inclusions which means we would need to support them all which is no little task.

The coding itself to pull a users language style and load that like we load the style is not a big deal at all. I could code that in like 10 minutes tops.

It is all merely the fact of getting all the necessary language packs. Photopost is the only product with language packs. So far in Photopost 5 we only have english german and french submitted out of the normal 9 we support.

We are trying to think of how to get people more involved in this to ensure a consistent update on languages

Thanks, omegatron, for your quick answer!

For sure it should not be your duty to supply the language files or even to use the language phrases from different forums! PhotoPost is a product and it's a feature but not a duty that it can be integrated with different forums.

The only thing which I - an probably/hopefully many other users - would need is, that the users should be able to choose their languages out from the available languages in the gallery. So, if there is a directory /languages/english and a dir /languages/german then a visitor of the gallery should be able to set in its profile if he want's to use English or German - not more.

Of course, it would be fine if this selection would be checked in forums to avoid double selection - but as you said this leads probably too far.

And regarding the language files - every admin of an international site should be able to translate by himself the English language into his mother language or use the files which are shared here by the users.

Just a simple manuel selection where user can choose out of the available languages and store this in its profile. If one is not registered he has to choose at every visit...

Once again thank you
regards
Markus

Well this is the issue I am talking about though

With our forum integrations though the users language selection is in there forum profile. Do you follow me here There is no profile for the user in Photopost if we use forum integration. The user info is recieved from the forum.

Thus if we were to support languages between forum and Photopost we would need to support the languages the forums have.

This is the dilema

Ok, I see,
I just was remembering the "galleries profile" in which every user can administrate his subscribed threads and pictures. So I was thinking that this "profile" could be used to store a language information (= directory with languages files to use).

I this is not possible I would be really happy if a user could choose the language at every visit. Yes, this is annoying, but it's more than "oh, I cannot read anything here - bye!"

And I am sure that our hackers on photopost.dev will take this opportunity to hack (=integrate) this languages choice for the available forums - one by one
Even on vBulletin-germany.com there is a simple good hack for guests to choose their language at every visit. And other hackers took this to make more out of it for different things....

This "change language on click" would be simply a good start.
Thanks for your time,

Markus

Yep with Photopost Internal Installs letting a user change his language is easy as we can store a language preference but yes to do it in forum integrations we need to have language packs for every language the different forums we have support
