Problem running JPEGTRAN:
"/usr/local/bin/jpegtran" -copy none /usr/local/www/data-dist/gallery/data/776/1IMG_09431.JPG
Error Code: 1
| Several images are getting through and then this error popups... removing the offending photo and uploading again gets me further but the error persists.

Check permissions on the data directory.
Check the path to jpegtran and that it is working by typing the command through shell
You may remove the jpegtran path in the config. It is not a necessity although it does help strip offending headers off jpg files like the adobe/ie bug.

The gallery has 7,800 photos and I can add more manually... I can even get a few to add with the bulk folder tool but it always fails part way through the process for folder uploads.

Have you tried without the jpegtran path filled in the config?

I can try that but if the normal upload works then it would seem to be a code issue, something being different in the bulk script then the normal upload routine?

Yes but then we need to figure out why its just you having this issue. I use jpegtran and do bulkuploads fine on my server.
We have been through permissions appearantly by your reply before so now I suggested to see if there is a permissions problem with jpegtran itself.
As there is no easy answer when your dealing with image processors there is no quick answer. If permissions are right you should not have an issue thus this is abnormal and we need to go through the steps.

It looks like it's just me and you having this problem, or there is something else going on...

Try not using jpegtran and see if your uploads work
I see in your other thread your talking about some script you created and not Photopost here
The error is one of jpegtran so wee if you dont use it if your script works
