Moving Photopost to New Server - how to move database

Our old server is dying so we migrated to a new server. We changed the NAT on the router so the external www... address now refers to the new server. Since Photopost 4.8.x is available, I went ahead and installed that instead of the 4.1.3 of the old server. Photopost seems to be now working on the new server. I am hoping that I can just copy the data directory over from the old server but it doesn't seem to be working. I even ran all the upgrade scripts so when I go to the photopost page, the old data is not showing up. Is there some other things I need to do?

Some more info:
old server - Suse Linux 7.1 and I was using ImageMagick
new server - FreeBSD 4.x and GD2

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

There's a good guide to moving a mysql database from one server to another at

Yes the easiest thing is for you to drop every table of the new photopost install except the settings table.

Restore the old database minus the old settings table( since the new settings table contains correct settings ) and run the upgrade scripts and you should be set.

I don't really know how to use Mysql etc. but things do seem to be working well enough! Thanks for the suggestions. Now if only I can change the default ordering from "Most Active" to "TITLE," I would be mega-happy!! (supposedly very easy to do, but again, I need a step-by-step guide as I have no idea how to use mysql et al.!!)

Thanks again though
