Using PP4.8.1: Board Migration from DCF+ to VB3

Crap, what fun this is. So, I've migrated from DCForum+ to VB3 and now I need to migrate the gallery with it. The member ID codes have changed a bit, I think I can handle that but would like some input on the list of tables that need touching. favorites, notify, photos. Others?

Beyond the tables, can I expect that the gallery will work by simply switching the Options > User Registration System towards VB3? Can't be that simple.

Thanks guys,

Chris

No it wont be that simple

Yes it is simple to change the integration type. You can follow the integration for VB3 to set that up correctly.

However when changing integration types mid stream like this it is very difficult.

The favorites notify all those tables can in essense be emptied to start over if need really be. However since Photopost photos and comments are stored using a user's userid this is going to be the challenging part. All photo's physically need to be assigned to the new user and this can be a time consuming thing. Comments as well need to have the new userid updated from the old ones as well. Otherwise it will show the comments being made by a user other than the one they use to be.

I'm sure the migration of userid's will be a task and a half but I'm prepared for that with some SQL statements. The photos though, you say physically need to be assigned to the new userid, what do you mean? Isn't that a process of the same userid info change within the photos table?

Photopost prepends on the front of the photos the user's userid. There is an admin function that lets you edit the photo and reassign to a different user. After aligning the comments with some sql statements you could reassign the photos to the proper users
