Installation problem

Hi all,

I have just uploaded photopost and I am accessing the install.php.

I clicked Proceed to Configuration Verification and have been presented with the message below.

Can anyone help?

--------

PhotoPost Administration

Exercise caution when editing these variables.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/blahblah/public_html/photopost/adm-cfgedit.php on line 231

---------

Thanks

Try re-uploading that file.

try deleting that file and the config-inc.php file from your server and uploading a clean copy from a freshly unzipped distribution

Somewhere your getting file corruption

Nope, this doesn't work either!

I also get this error when I click on the Refresh admin password etc:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'password@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/blahblah/public_html/photopost/install.php on line 294
I cannot connect to the PhotoPost MySQL server. [host:$host][mysql_user:$mysql_user][mysql_password:$mysql_password]. Check your config-inc.php for the correct settings and rerun.

I have checked the setting and they are correct.

I have also re-uploaded everything an still no joy!

Can you still help?

Okay well it did work as your not getting a parse error anymore

Now you just need to double check your settings. Your user to access mysql is password? Is your host indeed localhost?

Check all the mysql access info you entered on the first step of install

Sorry if the previous message wasn't clear but I get both error messages ie the parse error and the mysql error depending on which link I hit. Neither work!

There's nothing wrong with the file. It's clean. Try downloading the distribution package again, and unzip the files. Re-upload that file again.

As far as your error message, as Chuck said "Check all the mysql access info you entered on the first step of install".

OK, I've downloaded the distribution file again, this time using Netscape instead of Internet Explorer.

I'm using a Mac not a PC and as I sometimes get, it says that the file type is not recognised, so I download it anyway as a file to my hard disk.

I unzip it using stuffit expander. I have now uploaded it 4 times! Twice using Fetch and twice using Dreamweaver. Neither seem to have worked.

I have deleted the files you say and uploaded fresh versions 4 times. Still doesn't work.

The mysql info is correct as far as I understand it - I've done this a few times so it's not totally alien to me.

I can only presume that the download file is corrupting somehow.

It seems that things aren't so straight forward. If you have any further ideas I would greatly appreciate it before I am forced to use the install service that is on offer!

Thanks for the advice, I have downloaded and used another unzipping program and things are working now.

I am still getting sporadic errors which I am working through but the latest problem is when I try to verify a test account. I click on the link in the email and the browser window pops up with:

Sorry, but we are unable to verify this account.

Any ideas?

Also, where do I find the text for the email that is sent out to users who have just registered? I'd like to edit it.

Thanks
