error message: cannot connect to the user database
 

Installed the software and got an error message: CANNOT CONNECT TO USERS DATABASE.

Following is a list of relevant details as suggested.

web server is: Apache/1.3.29 (Unix)
MYSQL: latest version
PHP: latest version
Shared host
Server under my control
URL: www.rodding.net/photoPost

Document root: /home/net/rodding/html (is this what I have to insert in the path to photopost installation?)
Database name and database user: same name (defined by host)
prefix: pp_

VB3 License number (I insert it without *** and # just Lxxx)

Full path to PhotoPost DATA directory:(/home/net/rodding/html/photoPost/data)
Full path to PhotoPost UPLOADS directory:/home/net/rodding/html/photoPost/uploads

Now all is left to click on 'Complete PhotoPost installation'. Next, I get the error message.

Have I forgotten, mistyped, miss or messed up something?

Check your config-inc.php file, and ensure that the correct values are in place for the database usernames, passwords, name, and hosts. There are 2 occurances, one for the photo database and one for the user database. If you're doing a standalone installation they should match. If you're integrating with a forum then make sure the correct info is in the fields for that database.
