| Ignoring the config-inc settings?!?
So I hardcoded all the settings into the config-inc file. I started the install.php process and on the part of the install process where it asks to review the settings in the config-inc file... it seems to have ignored my settings? I checked to make sure I saved the config-inc.php file and all of the settings I put in there are still there, but they don't appear when I try to walk through the install.php process
I don't understand... any ideas?
This is a fresh install... of the latest version 4.8d (i just downloaded it). I have my photopost files on one server and I want my photopost DB on another server. I want to integrate this with vB3 to use the vB3 user database, but I want to put photopost in it's own special database to avoid any conflicts.

Did you upload your config-inc.php file? Did you upload it to the photopost directory?
If you alter the config-inc.php manually before install the changes will be displayed on a new install page.

I uploaded all the files to the server and edited the config-inc.php file on the server... then reloaded the install info... and it still ignored my config-inc.php file and uses the defaults.
That's the strange part... the config-inc.php should be in the root photopost directory right?

Yup... the config-inc.php file is the in the directory as the install.php. All the settings are right in the config-inc.php file... but when I run the install.php and click proceed config verification... all the defaults come up, none of my settings that I put in the config-inc.php file shows up on the page.

What are the file permissions on that file? Are they 666?
I can not duplicate your issue at all

I thought about file permissions... so currently I made the file read/write/executable for all users... still no luck.
I thought it might even have something to do with it being cached... so I've restarted apache and the server already and no such luck, still pulls the defaults.

Ok... so if I go into the install.php, it loads the defaults. So I figured I'd try and save the default and see if it updated my config.php file. I save the default and it overwrites me config-inc.php file with the defaults from the webpage. Even better, if I go to the install page and put in all my information into the webpage, I can click save and it will save over the config-inc.php file with my settings I entered into the webpage.
Now here's the kicker... if I go back to the verify settings page (even after saving the settings via the webpage), they are still at the defaults. So I don't know if the install is using my settings or using the defaults.
So I tried skipping the verification process and I get a warning on step 3. Access denied for root@localhost. So I said, let me try changing the username in the config-inc.php file manually and trying again... No such luck, it seems like it wants to ignore my config-inc.php file and use the defaults.

Clear your cache, perhaps you're looking at a cached page. Install.php doesn't have anything in it to tell the browser not to cache it.
Just a suggestion...

Just a suggestion... | Tried that ... both browser cache and server cache ... even rebooted both machines. No luck.

Instead of doing this back and forth like you describe in your post before this one have you just tried completing an install?
You meantion it saves the information when you did it so instead of going back to check go on with the install.

I tried going through the install process, reentering all the information on the web page for config-inc data. Then tried walking through the install process, but get booted with the following error. Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
I'm guessing it's trying to log into my local database on that machine (the database is on another machine). All the permissions are set right on my database machine as the web machine talks to my databaes machine all the type for the vB3 database.

Access denied for user: 'root@localhost'
Either the user "root" is using the wrong password, or "localhost" is not an acceptable host.
Have you considered purchasing the installation service?

I just upgrade from 4.8d to 4.8e, this seems to have fixed the problem, I'm walking through the installation process. I'm guessing it had something to do with 4.8d as 4.8e is setup to use the same values everything is working so far.
