| No Thumbnails Being Created
I'm using ImageMagick to create thumbnails. I have set the size of the thumbnails to 100 pixels. When I upload images the full sized image is displayed rather than the thumbnail.
Examples can be seen at http://galleries.photographers.co.uk/index.php |

If you have SSH access compile a non-root install of ImageMagick and use that and test things out. You can alternatively switch to GD2 if your server has it.
I have only seen this on servers where ImageMagick is whacked and always the way to solve was to recompile a new one.

I'm doing the installation for AndyX and have posted before with some of the problems I've had.
But the problems I had were trying to get the upload process working, which is all fine now, but as Andy says, it's not creating the thumbnails.
It's been suggested that we re-install IM, but I don't see how that's going to solve any problems.
BTW, I am the host, and have full access to the server which is an IIS6 box running W2K.
I can easily run the mogrify commands manually, point it to one of the xxx-thumb.jpg files and it'll create the thumbnail perfectly.
The mogrify.exe file has full permissions from everyone I could think of!
Any suggestions?

ImageMagick works by copying the image, reading in the image file, performing calculations, and then overwriting the copied file.
Sounds like it doesn't have permissions to overwrite the old file.

Cheers for the tip there DonB, but still no joy. The "data" directory has been given full permission for IUSER and IWAM users.. I've even checked the files themselves and they have the permissions set right as well..

Have you given the web root IWAN AND IUSER priviledges? I would think very least the gallery subdomain. The script which is called needs these permissions not just the data directory.

Yes, the wwwroot folder has full permissions.

Many thanks for the help guys, but we are no longer hosting this website and therefore do not need any more help.

All a bit unfortunate. I received a phone call from Adder Solutions this morning. They said that they had done everything you guys have suggested and it still didn’t work. If I wanted them to continue working on it they would charge me £60 per hour (roughly $100) from now on. No guarantee of success. We agreed to part company.
Leaves me in a bit of a hole! Can anyone recommend a hosting company? It looks like there are plenty of sites with it up and running.

Depends on what you want to spend. My personal site is hosted with www.olm.net and I have been extremely happy for over 4 years with them. You can also go low-end with powweb although I find them a bit restrictive on mysql connections.

Hi Omegatron,
I contacted a few companies and one Odsol came back to me with a very helpful mail. They also sent me links to a couple of Photopost sites that they already host.
They will carry out an install for me. The version will be 4.8d so hopefully all my problems will disappear!
Therefore ignore any other posts I have made and let me test out the new version when it is ready.
Thank you for your help so far.
Andy
