| JHEAD not capturing EXIF info
I'm using JHEAD and GD2 and have EXIF info turned on but for some reason EXIF info is not being captured from my uploaded JPGs. Once they are uploaded I save the file to my dektop and I see that the EXIF info is gone, so I am wondering if that info is somehow being stripped during the upload.
I'd really like to get EXIF to work, so I'm wondering what I am doing wrong.
Thanks,
Jeff

your path to jhead is not correct.
We recently had this discussion with another customer so it is still fresh in my mind
You need to verify that jhead is installed where you think it is. You may need to contact your host. If it is not installed then you will need to install it
I have jhead working fine here http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=743 |

I still can't get JHEAD to work and it's not a path issue. I have a dedicated server and I've physcially copied the path from a windows explorer window to the config textbox. I've tried both C:\Progra~1\Jhead\jhead.exe and C:\Program Files\Jhead\jhead.exe and in both cases the file seems to have been stripped of it's EXIF info. The original file has it, but the large uplaoded file does not. I've tried re-scaning as well.
Any ideas?

Okay couple things to consider
Just like with ImageMagick you dont want to put that in the Program Files directory either. You might want to do c:\jhead\jhead.exe
You need to mark to display exif information.
I would bet it is not translating out the Program Files location.

| I moved JHEAD to the directory suggested above and still no joy. Quote: |

| "Display and extract EXIF information from images?" is set to YES.

Make sure it has the correct permissions, and that cmd has permissions to execute the jhead.

I now have this problem. I can't be sure when it occurred but I think it must have been when I upgraded Photopost. I have set the correct path to JHEAD and turned the option on in the admin but it doesn't seem to display the info when I upload a new photo with EXIF or if I re-scan. Is there anything else I should be checking?

windows or linux?
If its windows you would need to follow the instructions just like ImageMagick with the IWAM and IUSER accounts and cmd.exe etc as permissions are essential
If its linux I would just visit the download site and get the source and build your own copy to ensure proper permissions. http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/ |

In windows you make sure cmd.exe and jhead have permissions that IWAM IUSER AND guest ACCOUNTS have full access just like you gave on the uploads and data directories of photopost

What permissions do they need?
