No there is no current documentation. Photopost is written opensource so you can see which templates are called. Most scripts call templates with the same name.

My god... someone deleted my post! I do believe every single point I made was valid.

Damn you people.

I've been sitting here for the last hour trying to figure out how to simply move the 'logout' bit of text to somewhere else... and you people are deleting posts that critisize your total lack of documentation for this, a paid-for product....

Unbelivable.

Zed,

You obviously did not read the PM I sent you. I told you I hit edit by mistake instead of trying to quote you on certain things so as to reply to them. I ended up messing your entire post up instead of posting a new reply so I deleted it and then PM'd you asking you to please repost.

Now onto your original post since you choose not to repost it. Opensource I guess you could reword that to opencoded as that is my meaning. You have the ability to see all the code and change things.

As far as you complaining about the topmenu function in pp-inc.php for the menubar. You replaced the names with image tags in pp-inc.php. I simply stated you could have edited the language file and replaced the names with image tags there. Would have made things much easier.

Now as far as moving the logout button you already know where the link to the login logout is in pp-inc.php

Now I can agree with you quite easily there could be some documentation on the templates. I think it might be nice to tell people what templates are called by which files etc.

Alot of your frustration and time could have been solved by simply asking a question about how do I do this?

Ok, fair enough, I didn't realise I had a PM and it appeared that my post had simply dissapeared... which as you can probably imagine, seems a bit rude.
I apologise. (can't repost, since I have no idea what I wrote the first time)

Now, the language thing... my god I wish I knew you could do that when I was doing my last three photopost installs... (You'd think I'd know where everything was by now... huh? Nope... total bloody mystery each and every time.) - but you see how just a little documentation could have helped there?

In any case, I don't think it helps me, since I need rollovers, hense I have to put code into the actual A tag.

As far as the login / logout link is concerned, it's 'easy' (loosest possible use of that word) to find and change the actual text used in the pp-inc, but I need to actually move the whole link to somewhere else on the page.

I want it to appear directly after the 'Welcome' string... but of course, now I have to try and find that!

I'm not a programmer... I'm a designer.
I make things look pretty, and then I have to tear my considerable amount of hair out of my head, trying to figure out how to wrangle forum and gallery programs around my designs.
Invariably, I fail. Each and every time. I have to 'make do' with something far less cool than my original idea.
This happens for the sole reason, that the templates are too fiddly to play around with to the extent that I want to.

Photopost, (while, don't get me wrong, it is a cool and useful program that I try to put on all my sites) is bar far the most difficult to skin out of all of them. Easily.

Just a couple of screenshots with arrows saying: 'this bit comes from this variable which you'll find in this template' would be so damn helpful.

Christ, I had exactly this discussion on a UBBThreads forum recently... I'm taking it all back now, UBBT is 10 times easier than PP!

Your probally dont have Private Message Notification on.

Funny you meantion UBBThreads. I am a loyal UBBThreads user and beta tester. Their template system is almost identical to what we use. In fact it is so similar it is scary. The Developer for Photopost is a UBBThreads user. They use the same if conditional switch's and you can also change the language strings to replace them with Image tags etc.

I personally absolutely hate the VB template system while alot around here love it.

Now as far as moving code or such that is a hacking question and probally why you had trouble posting on the UBBThreads forums. They are not going to answer you since hacking your software is not a function of a support forum. There are hack sites out there that customers can ask questions on. For UBBThreads that hack site is http://www.threadsdev.com and we have one as well http://www.photopostdev.com

I would normally tell you to post hacking questions there. Your question is rather simple so while it is not a support measure I will PM you an example of what you want to do to redefine and move the logout button
