Error creating thumbnail! Error code: 1

I installed PP 4.8d on our RAQ4 discovering that the GD 1.3.5 was not functional.
I then installed ImageMagick 6.0.2-7 in a directory in my user directory, chmod everything including directory t have rx rights for everyone.
I changed the configuration of PP to use ImageMagick and entered the correct path to /path/bin/mogrify
now when I try to upload a jpg image, I receive the error message:
Error creating thumbnail! Error code: 1
/bin/mogrify" -size 100x70 -quality 70 -geometry 100x70 '/path_to_site/web/data/503/1billbike-thumb.jpg'

is the path /bin/mogrify correct?

I find error code 1 is usually when certain sites don't have permission to access mogrify.

I used pwd to ensure the path to mogrify is correct, also, I tried chmod of the im_exe directory and all files within it to 777 to ensure complete rights for everyone.
ImageMagick is functioning for GIF images, just not for JPG images, and I did not compile IM with jpeg disabled...

Okay but did you installed the jpeg library first before installing ImageMagick?

As far as your path it is just installed in a weird place.
