S***!!! Can't get into my Admin Panel

Hi,

ok, i was trying to upgrade, backed up my files for 4.7, installed 4.8 fresh, went through the installation process, got a who load of notices stating that the database was already being used, managed to get to the end of the instillation process, then it didn't work, so i copied my backup files of 4.7 back onto the aborted attempt at installing 4.8.

And everything seemed to be fine.

BUT, now when i log in with my admin account, it doesn't show the admin option and i can't get in. With either account.

Any idea how i can get into the admin panel. This is a serious ooooops!

Why would you run installed when doing an upgrade?

Using PhpMyAdmin view your photopost usergroups table and find the administrators line

Make sure the groupid is set to 6 and cpaccess is set to 1

well...

You see now, when i put things like "i'm rubbish at this and learn as i go along" it is only about 10% self-deprecation and 90% observation. So, when i tried to upgrade, and couldn't see any instructions, i reverted to the method i had to use for upgrading my directory, which i now realise was foolish, but as i said, i learn as i go.

Right, the photopost draws its user information from my forum, so the DB has no data in the usergroups (this was pointed out by a friend who does know stuff). And the admin account works for the other applications, just not photopost.

To be honest, at the moment i'm thinking of biting the bullet, deleting the database and simply starting again with 4.8, unless someone comes up with an alternative in the next few hours.

And for future upgrades, i will be sure to ask about upgrade instructions before diving in.

There are upghrade instructions in the upgrades directory (UPGRADE.TXT) and running the main upgrade.php script will provide guidence as to which scripts are needed as well.

Go back and run the upgrade scripts in the order you should have in the first place.

If the upgrade instructions arent enough there is a more in depth file called changelog.txt in the documentation folder If I remember correctly

If your telling me your photopost usergroups has no entries you can run this in phpmyadmin and that will add the admin usergroup but you must as Michael stated run all applicable upgrades for the program to function.

INSERT INTO (addyourprefixhere)usergroups VALUES (6,'Administrator',1,1,1,1,'','',1,1,1,0,0);
