Problems with upgrade from GMS to 4.8

I had a great deal of trouble with the upgrade process. I thought I got through it but now I'm getting segmentation faults from apache.

What's the best way to proceed at this point since I've gone through the upgrade process already (perhaps incorrectly)?

Segmentation faults? That's an apache error, not a PHP error. I'm not sure how PP should have possibly effected your Apache server.

GMS to 4.8 would require running all of the upgrade scripts, including upgradegms.php; did you follow all the upgrades?

Have you followed the correct upgrade instructions like Michael asked?

Ran the proper upgrades?

Sorry, I swear those questions weren't there first time. I think he added them.

Yes, I did follow all the upgrades beginning with the gms upgrade, although I had a lot of problems with the gms upgrade in particular. For example, it had multiple php syntax errors in it that I had to fix manually. Missing double quotes, etc....

To the best of my knowledge I performed all of the upgrades, but as I said, I'm not confident that they were completed properly.

That is what leads me to my current question. What is the best way for me to proceed at this point?

You did not keep track of errors. HMM

I will have to also check what version of photopost gms upgrades to. I beleive you may need to also run some of the regular upgrade scripts as well

EDIT: Looks to me like it upgrades to a 4.5 database type

YOU NEED RUN THE FOLLOWING PHOTOPOST UPGRADES ALSO

upgrade45.php
upgrade46.php
upgrade467.php
upgrade47.php

I don't have my notes with me here, but I do remember fixing at least two syntax errors. After that I checked the version that the gms upgrade brought me up to and ran all scripts from that point on. Sorry, I don't remember the version either. I did not run the scripts prior to that version.

I do have the ability to restore everything back to pre-upgrade and start over if that's the best course of action. However, the gms version was not working properly when I started as I had upgraded my integrated vb to vb3 which broke it. Is there any way to get gms to work with vb3? That would allow me to slow down and work on getting the new version running with less emergency.

recheck my post above. You need to also run the following photopost database upgrades since it brings you to a 4.5 database and we are now on 4.8

I ran all the scripts that appear on the list provided by the upgrade.php that comes with 4.8. I don't have that available, but I'm assuming that the list matches what you posted.

well I read the upgrade gms doc and it made no meantion of what scripts to run after. It upgrades you to a 4.5 database so you need to run the ones I meantioned.

Now Michael has upgraded the upgrade script so when you run upgradegms.php it should link to the next upgrade you need and so forth

Go ahead redownload the build and start completely over with a fresh GMS database.

As far as linking to VB once you finish yes you can change your integration type but please note unless you have done an import of users in order from GMS to VB3 with the same userid as your old database none of the Photos will align with the proper user.

Now you can change the owner of an image to another user in 4.8 but if you have alot of photos thats alot of work.

just to be sure I'm on the same page. Which build are you referring to? The 4.8 build? Just as an FYI, the 4.8 build I downloaded yesterday did not have an upgrade path from gms. I had to download a seperate upgrade to get to 4.5

I just talked with Michael this morning. No one has upgraded from GMS in a long time. If you redownload the build when you run upgradegms.php the script will link upgrade45.php and so on so all the proper scripts are ran.

I will try again this evening with a redownloaded build. You are referring to the 4.8 build, right?

Ok, there are still syntax errors in the upgradegms.php script as follows:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/thereeft/public_html/photopost/upgradegms.php on line 94

Line 93 has imbedded quotes.

After fixing that:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ']', expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/thereeft/public_html/photopost/upgradegms.php on line 104

Line 103 is missing the ;"; at the end

Then, when I run the script without the syntax errors this occurs:

Duplicates I would not worry about.

What do you mean the version was 3.1.0? Where you running Photopost or GMS

Did you run all the upgrades. Did you follow the steps in the upgrade doc.

Url to install

Ok, I think you just struck on the problem. I thought I was running photopost all along, but the customer service guy said I wasn't, so I assumed GMS must be the name of an earlier version of photopost. I believe I've been running photopost since day 1.

That would certainly explain my difficulties.
