Upload problems

Hi! I am getting the following when uploading photos in my photo forum:

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg(): '/home/audiosol/public_html/photopost/uploads/0/Um_dos_ESL.JPG' is not a valid JPEG file in /home/audiosol/public_html/photopost/image-inc.php on line 81

My upload permissions are all set to "777"

Any ideas? Thanks....Mike, www.audiosold.com

Are you using GD2?

Also this I take it is an unregistered user as the userid is 0 ?

If you using gd2 looks like it is a gif image and not a jpeg

What is GD2?

They are JPEG images. Unregistered users can upload photos. I am not sure what you mean by GD2.

Okay I am able to upload fine on your site as well

Okay you are indeed using GD2 as your image processor

When you recieve the above error using GD2 is means the image is really a gif and just renamed as a jpg. The image processors can tell GD does not handle gif images

How to fix it?

Is this on my server end? How can this be fixed to accept the files? Most of my customers would be using the same method as I did. I took the photos with my camera and loaded them to my laptop into a "photos" file. Mike

well most camera save them as jpg which means you should not have a problem

Not everyone can compile Imagemagick on their server. You need SSH access and ability to use the GCC compiler.

My server notified me that they would be changing to another company a few weeks ago. Before that I never had a problem uploading my photos in the above manner. What should I tell them to do on their end...Mike

Well I was able as you know to upload fine.

The image you had was in reality a gif image renamed to jpg.

There is nothing you can do outside of marking gif images as unacceptable when you use GD and if someone tries to upload a gif renamed as a jpg your always going to get that error.

If they install ImageMagick you should be fine.

Let me see if I get this straight. I am getting the same error. So why would someone want to rename a gif file to a jpg file anyways?
