User Permission on custom field

i run a collectors site, and i want to allow the users to enter the amount they paid for the item but only they can see the value.

i was planning on using one of the custom fields

is this something that is possible?

There are no permissions on custom fields. Basically if someone can view a photo in your gallery then they would see the information collected for it.

I did have one thought on a minor code mod if you can do that but we do not provide support for mods.

You could theoretically use say extra field 1 in edit categories for your category for some private field and then simply on showphoto template add the code in bold that should hide it from display except for the person who posted it
