V8.23: Contest Voting Not Working
 

Just upgraded to V8.23. The rating works fine, but the Contest Style vote does not work:

What do you mean voting does not work? I need to know specifically what your issue is.

You can only vote for an image that is not your own and you may only vote once. You must also be logged in as guests can not vote. Voting has always been this way so without you saying what your specific issue is it is hard to speculate here what your problem might be.

I just tested setting a category to contest under admin edit categories and as admin I enabled voting and I was able to have an active vote link under any image that was not my own.

The Vote link/button does not appear when I logged in.

Have you performed any required upgrades.

Basically the issue as I see it is we would have to see what case is not valid here

Have you set the category voting permissions?

Sorry, the category voting permission was not set. I am not sure if this is a new permission setting, or because my MOD created a new category.

Where do we find this setting? We are not able to see the voting buttons on our site when voting is enabled

voting permissions are found under admin edit categories for each category.

Under edit category I have:
Rating type?*
Normally users can rate an image on a scale, the Contest setting allows users to 'vote' on image by casting their vote and having those votes added to a total number.

This is set to contest.

But there is nothing that says "voting permissions".

Scan down the bottom to where you set individual category permissions on that page your on.

The options I have are:

These checked usergroups can view images in this category.

These checked usergroups can upload to this category,
unless a usergroup's overall upload access is disabled.

These checked usergroups can post to this category,
unless a usergroup's overall posting access is disabled.

there is most definately a voting section under admin edit categories you sure you are scanning down all the way and or have uploaded all the new files.

Have you set in your admin options that users can rate images?

No - that isn't working.

The category is set to "contest"
I have gone out of the admin and set enable voting. It says above that voting has started
There are no voting buttons, etc. I have gone back into the edit category - and there is no option to set voting permissions

what I am saying though is if your not setting the master switch that allows members to rate images in admin your not going to see those permissions and the reason you can not vote is you have not set permissions.

If you continue to not find what I am saying you need to send us a login and url to check out your settings.

Did you find that switch so the permissions are shown?
