Watermark Image

Just curious as to what is best for watermarking.

1. Does file type matter?
2. Do transparencies work?
3. Do you make a full sized image or say just a Copyright sized image?

1. Well if your using Imagemagick then your watemarks gif images are best.

2. If your using GD2 then a PNG is best and transparencies work sure

3. watermarks should be made size appropriate to the max dimensions you want to use.

If your using on the fly watermarking then you can just try different watermark sizes to see what works best.

If you are using permanent watermarking you may want to set things up and upload a test image and play around with what size watermark gives you the results you want for the size thresholds you set. watermarks are proportioned to the overall sizes.

Got it! The hardest part was determining which program I have would do what I needed. I created an image with text and a transparent background just smaller than the size of a medium image file. Loaded it into the server, changed the settings in the admin panel and wallah!

Oh, and I do have another question... but I need to start a new topic entirely... later.
