| Uploading to multiple galleries
We have had the multiple galleries turned off but just recently turned it on. I need to know what in the options need changed to stop this behavior.
1. Upload an image and include it in more than 1 category; example: Underwater photos category and Dogfish category.
2. Have a test account and view the image that is in the dogfish category and comment on it.
The gallery is not seeing this 1 photo as one photo. It's seeing it as 2. If you comment on the image that is in the Dogfish category it DOES NOT show the comment on the identical image that is in the underwater category.
When you try to delete the 1 photo you uploaded, you can't. You have to delete it twice. Once in the dogfish cat. and one in the underwater cat.
Is the gallery not set up to recognize sub categories? Does it really create 2 copies of a photo based on how many categories it goes to?

Very simply this is how it works. You can upload it to 2 additional categories meaning you can have 3 separate photos. The only thing the feature actually does is store the photo ONCE on disk with the original photo upload. It just saves you from uploading the same photo to different categories 3 separate times.

We don't "grasp" it because it's not logical and it's not remotely the way that other online galleries handle images. When I put my flickr images into a group, I get comments on one photo and when I need to delete the image, I only have to delete once. 500px... same thing. Photobucket.. same. Facebook... same. If you have a large population of users who do not understand this feature, perhaps it may be time to reevaluate this in your software, look at how other popular online galleries are handling the same situations and evolving Photopost to act in the way that has been established as normal behavior.

Right but on these other sites your referencing which are different products then our software truly have the feature we are talking about here. I think not your probally viewing one photo.
Remember the software performs as the feature is coded. When your grabbing images that exist in a category those images actually have to exist thus the way things work is it clones the photo into different categories.
This feature works the same way it does if you copy your thread here to a different forum. That is a separate thread that the original. I use the copy function every time I release a new version of the software. I post the original in announcements and a copy in the install/upgrade support forum for that specific product.
The only thing this feature does is allow the main photo to be the photo for all 3 of those photos which are separate photos so you do not waste diskspace. This is how it was coded.
Try copying a post thread on your forum you will see what I am talking about here. That is exavtly what our feature does except for it does not upload the actual file 3 times to different cats only once.

You are the one who stated that most customers don't understand this feature. I am explaining to you that most likely it is because no other gallery software that is mainstream acts in this same manner.
On Flickr, I can upload one photo and then add it to 50 groups. To me this is the same as photopost, just a difference in what things are called. My main flickr account is the members area and any additional categories I pick are like groups.
When I want to delete that one photo on Flickr, I only have to go to any version of it, in any one of those 50 groups, and delete it and it's gone. Comments posted to that one image, in any of those 50 groups shows up no matter what group it's located in (and it's a key part of why folks post in the comments because they can advertise their groups).
Take it one step further, on my free Flickr account I am allowed X number of photos per month. My count is based off of actual photos uploaded. It does NOT count how many groups I add it to.
If I want to delete that one photo in PP, I have to delete it from every single category that it was added to. If I want to see the comments, I have to go to every single category that it was added to and find the image to read the comment. Right now, if you add a picture to Photopost and add it to 3 category, you have just used up 3 of your 6 allowed uploads for the day.
This isn't logical. It's antiquated.

I have seen Flickr it is not the same as our application. I do not try and compare our product to other things on the web. Our feature is as explained so there is nothing more to add to the discussion here. I merely am explaining how it works as there seems to be confusion there if you do not like the feature turn it off.
