Upgrade from early version 8

I have 8.02 installed and want to upgrade to 8.22. Instructions show upgrading from 8.21 is just a matter of copying the new files to my server. Is this the same for earlier 8 versions?

Just want to make sure before I mess anything up.

No those are not the instructions for upgrading from 8.02 to 8.22

The announcement is always just the changes since the previous version which would be 8.21

You will probally want to upload everything except the 2 config files and run the upgrade and do the 8.0-8.1 and 8.1-8.2 upgrades as well as redo your vb plugins as if you read all the release notes back to 8.02 you will see there are many changed files directories and a few upgrades. The file in the documentations folder called changelog.txt has all the changes which is nothing more than our release announcements.

That's what I suspected so I am glad I asked. Would it be safer to upgrade from 8.02 to 8.1 to 8.2 to 8.22 in steps? Not sure if those 8.1 and 8.2 upgrades are available for download.

No the only download is the one here 8.22

Like the upgrade from 8.x to 8.1 you had to upload everything except the configs so your steps to upgrade are what I outlined and a general concensus of how things are done. If you look at the upgrade.txt you see upgrade instructions. I always suggest people upload all files except the configs.
