Galleries not getting populated

I just updated to 8.21 and now when I try to populate gallery with images they get uploaded to the Data folder, but won't show in the gallery, unless I manually put them in one at a time via the uploader select boxes.
Tried all combinations for folder contents, but nothing would work.

Any suggestions?

Not sure what your referring to. I need exact step by step explanation of what your trying to say.

If an image is in the data directory then it is in your gallery. That comment alone is very confusing because if the image is truly in your data directory it has been processed into your gallery or it would not be there. An image is only moved into your data directory after it is processed meaning the info has been added to the database and it is moved from the uploads directory to the data directory which is the final resting place of the final image.

I can only guess your trying to say your flash uploader is not working but regular uploads work?

I did a little test uploaded 7 2mb each files and they where all processed. The flash uploader does not work on all servers and issues with it would not be endemic of a specific version of the gallery. Like if your server has mod security turned on then flash uploads would not work.

Let me know exactly what your problem is so I can respond accordingly. The site I am showing you is my clean 8.21 install that I do testing on.

BCBR Day 6, Squamish - Whistler Mountain Bike ~ Photo Gallery

there is the category where I have uploaded images today. The only one that is showing is the one that I choose via the admin upload individual file upload.

I tried uploading 15 via the uploads folder, several times, it goes through the process as it normally does, and I tried the different combinations of no review etc.. tried uploading with different usernames etc. It processes them, but won't show them in the gallery.

Below are links to some of the images there were uploaded, and in the data folder, but not showing in the gallery.

The images are in your gallery as I see they are right here.

You uploaded them to your members gallery not the category you meant to. ;) Like I said if an image is in your data directory it is in your gallery. I guess the mistake you made was that your category you uploaded to was set to your members gallery and not the category you wanted to select like you did when you uploaded one at a time.

my normal workflow is to create the gallery in the correct location in the admin, then surf on the front end (but logged in) to the correct folder, then upload images via the bulk uploader.

I just tried that again, but it goes to the members gallery instead of the correct location.

Is there a way to do bulk imports but force the final location?

The only thing you do in admin is create categories that is true.

Uploading is strictly a front end thing. You select upload from the menubar which takes you to the upload script and set the category you wish to upload to and upload photos. You will then have the images uploaded and your forwarded to the bulk upload script which is where you can make final changes like adding titles and descriptions and selecting the category etc

If your images are being uploaded to the members gallery then that is the category you have selected on the bulk upload screen.

The only issue I am seeing here is you are not selecting your category. You can send me an admin login to check out what your doing and try to upload if you want through the contact us link on our site header.

See I selected a category other than members gallery.

so i went back to my normal process but in Chrome not FF (15) and it worked perfectly.

perhaps my FF install is the trouble for all of this. Not quite sure why it wouldn't be operating correctly. going to try a restart and see if it clears it out.

Thats weird I have all 5 popular browsers installed and use FF almost exclusively. The tests I showed you are all using Firefox.

I can just explain how the upload process works. You select the category on the upload page and upload photos it really is that simple. Basically like I said if your photos are being uploaded to the members gallery that is the one you uploaded them to. The members gallery is the highlighted category on the upload page. You need to use the dropdown and select a category.

browser restart fixed the issue. thanks for the help... always excellent support from you.

chrisarmstrong September 14th, 2012 03:52 PM

the weird thing is that I did exactly the same steps that I have always done... for the couple thousand images before... and same process in Chrome worked..

So there was something wonky with FF
