| Category Permissions not working
Hello,
I was hoping that you could give me some guidance with my setup. I'm using the latest vbulletin and the latest photopost together.
The forum/gallery combination has been in use for several years. My photopost galleries are setup so that some can be viewed by "not logged in" people and some are set up to block that class of people.
But it appears that everyone can see thumbnails of the images and only logged in people can actually see the larger images and comments.
I've reviewed the Edit Categories section, checking the top level permissons first and then the permissions for each gallery and they appear to be set up properly. I've also made sure that the Registration options are set to require people to be registered to view galleries.
I would like to make sure that people that are not logged in cannot see the thumbnails too!
Any help would be most appreciated!
Thanks,
Dennis

You are actually talking seperate things. The permissions will determine which categories and images will appear to any group in the program.
If you are referring to the setting that says guests can not view large images that is a different setting under Admin => Registration Settings in the gallery admin panel
Require users to be registered to view images?
set that to no if you do not want that active.

Hi Chuck,
I would like "unregistered" or "not logged in" visitors to not be able to see the galleries, the thumbnail images and the larger images.
I've set "require users to be logged in" to yes, but that's not doing it.
So, I've changed all the top level and individual categories to "no" but that's not doing it.
Can you tell me what more I need to do?
Thanks,
Dennis

No you missed what I said. You need to set that setting to NO if you want guests to view the large images. Otherwise the guests get a message when clicking a thumbnail that says they need to register.

Chuck,
I want guests to NOT SEE thumbnails, and to NOT SEE larger images. I do want them to see a message to register or login...
Right now they can not see larger images and that's good.
Now I want to stop them from seeing the thumbnails in the gallery too!
Thanks,
Dennis

If you do not want guests to see the content then you need to set guests with no viewing permissions under admin edit categories then they will not see the content for any category you say they can not view.
You say you have had these setup for years. If you remove guests from having viewing permissions it does work.

Hi Chuck,
Now we're getting somewhere, I already have set the guests to have no viewing permissions under Admin Edit Categories... but they can still see the thumbnails in the galleries.
I can sent you the url or the admin credentials if you'd like to look...
Thanks,
Dennis

You can post a url sure as thats impossible if you are viewing the gallery and a guest sees the images if things are set right.
Make sure to include an admin login as well to see how you have it set. details can be send through the contact us link in header
