Interested in suggestions for file size limits

What limits are recommended for file size upload limits? I imagine that different forums use different limits, so I'm also interested in your reason for the limit you chose.

How do you communicate to your users what the limits are, and how they can edit their photos to fit?

i recommend max image dimensions no larger than 1024 and filesize no more than 750kb
