how do I suppress the thumbnail beside the album title?

Not sure why, but the thumbnails that appear beside the album title have grown and are obscuring the title. I've been looking for the setting to either shrink them by half, or to suppress them altogether, so the album title is clear.

I have located the thumbnail origination in the Admin screen Category Editor. However, it seems to be grabbing a photo already in the album, and I haven't figured out how to clear that to "none."

I'm seeing this mostly in the lowest level of albums, in a folder of albums. The others are set to "none" for thumbnail as they should be.

A pointer, please? thanks!

My suggestion would be to upgrade your software your using an older photopost with newer vbulletin which has changed how they handle things since that older version was released.

Yeah I was concerned that would be necessary. I didn't get it done before the current promotion, and I'm a little leery of getting into an upgrade and hitting a technical glitch that takes days to resolve. But I will try to get it done this weekend.

thanks Chuck!

help! (I did keep a backup) I am going from 7.1 to the latest version 8.

Before starting, I turned off the Gallery through the Gallery admin panel.

I uploaded the new files through ftp. When /install/upgrade.php did not offer a method to edit the config files, I edited config-inc.php and config-int.php to match the variables set up in the last version.

PhotoPost Upgrade Script
started normally, but then went to this error message:

Server Error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.modelhorseblab.com/blabpi...rade=70&step=1. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

What do I do?

I would need specific server information to see what you have done but I would assume you made a mistake editing config files. I would suggest replace your config files with the old ones.

The documentation on upgrade is under the documentations folder of the downloaded code and you never replace your config files. In fact upgrading from 7 series to 8 series you simply want to as our release announcement on PP8 states you want to remove the stylesheets and templates folders under your gallery as those have changed drastically

Then you simply upload everything from the download except the 2 config files which you leave the old ones in place and then you would run the upgrade script select the 2 upgrades you need to run then move on to the vb4 plugins portion of the upgrade then you should be operation.

I had looked for the documentation online, but I've now reviewed what is in the documentation folder.

I replaced the config files with the old ones.

I am getting the same error. One of the explanations is "site might be down for maintenance." I did switch the gallery to "off" so users could not upload until I had upgraded. Is that a possible problem?

What do you need to know about the server?

thanks Chuck

So at this point, in an attempt to bring the gallery back online, I restored the backup files to the server tree. However that isn't working either. /index.php gives the error message

Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.modelhorseblab.com/blabpics/adm-inc.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

I will now go back to the original upgrade plan and start restoring the 8.x files.

I have tried to check all folders and verify files for both the old 7.1 and the 8. versions, and have not found what is wrong. However I don't know php code. I am using the same old config-int and -inc files for both versions. They seem to have everything filled in.

I am really hoping this can be resolved so my users can upload to the gallery this weekend.

Also ... I wonder if turning the gallery off in the admin panel before I started the upgrade is what is wrong? Now I have no access to change that setting, though.

I sent you an email as you had not sent any passwords for me to look at anything for you in your email.

My thought here is you do not have the correct forum server path in your config-int.php file or you have a corrupt file which is what I was trying to see.

You can test the forum server path by setting all the vb3 define boxes to off in config-int.php

I just replied to the email with more info. I have changed server hosts since the last upgrade in Feb. 2012. The file structure/paths are the same, but I see that yes, the root designation has changed. I noted what I tried in the reply email but still not working.

I can't stay at my computer this morning. If you are able to resolve this, I will be grateful is you can switch the gallery back on in the admin panel.

thank you!

I'm afraid I don't know what this means.

What are 777 permissions? Where are permissions set? I have no idea about this.

BUT I see that you fixed it and we are saved!!! Thank you so much Chuck!!! Maybe you can teach me what I should be doing so I can do the next upgrade properly.

Will this affect user upload permissions?

My users are suddenly unable to upload, although I can. I right-clicked on a folder in ftp and found a setting that enables read-write. Is that the right setting to adjust? For the /data/ and the /upload/ folders?

I am able to upload without issues. I have a test id that is also able to upload with the same permissions setting as the users.

But some of the users are getting internal server errors. After they select the photo and submit for the first step in the upload, there is a server error -

internal server error
website cannot display the page

I don't know if it was the right thing to do, but I began resetting the permissions to read-write for the folders and all sub-folders and files for /data/ and /upload/.
/upload/ appears to have completed, but /data/ has a great deal of volume and is still running. I haven't had a chance to find out if this has enable uploading yet.
