Just had a quick scan of both, as best I can tell nothing has been changed.
I've definately not changed any settings myself as I've been at work all day. Still waiting to hear back from hosts to verify they have indeed updated the server. Any likely things I should look for having been changed?

Hey Chuck,
Sorry it's a bit of a vague one but this is where we are just now:
Forum index previews will NOT display on ANY browser.
Users MEMBER gallerys seem to be ok and preview within the gallery index.
Images from any other folder do not. They just display the 'no thumbnail found' image.
Now heres the weird bit. RE the multi-upload issue, I thought our hosts had perhaps moved our server. They've not touched it yet. So somehow, somethings broken without any outside interferance. I can upload fresh images, but it seems pointless when old images which took a fair wee while to upload arent working.
See Fiat Scotland - Scotlands Dedicated Fiat Community for missing thumbs at the top of the page Gallery - should preview as a guest

I guess that would depend on your images and what your issue is.
Lets use this as an example Fiat Scotland - Scotlands Dedicated Fiat Community
where are your images someone did something
The reason images do not show in your gallery or the forum index block is they do not exist so my question would be where did they go. Your host or you or someone would have actually had to delete them via the backend. Did you reinstall or move your gallery and not transfer all the data directory?

I asked the host, they said they haven't moved the server. I'll rephrase that and ask them again. I was at work when the issues started being reported, so certainly wasnt in the back end of the forum/gallery.
Might be related, might not, but I've tapatalk for checking the forum on my mobile. It's refused to load the site all day, as has the android browser. Both return gateway timeout 504's - but on the desktop/laptop I can see the site fine. Could this be related to the gallery issues?
I've closed the gallery for now, is there any way to remove that forum index block for just now to test this theory?
Thanks as always for all your help!
Martyn

viewing your forum has nothing to do with your gallery to my knowledge. As stated the issue as I see it is your images do not exist. If you view one of the images that do not exist in the gallery look at the source of the page and see the image it is looking for. They simply do not seem to exist on your server.

Ok, it was just weird that both bugs seem to have appeared from nowhere at the exact same time..hence my thinking that there may be a connection. I've asked the hosts to confirm any issues with the server so will hear back from them and take things from there I guess.
Interestingly, the forum index thumbnails still refuse to load with new pictures uploaded into the members gallery, so guessing theres still a niggling fault there.
Away to grab some sleep, will see what hte morning brings.
Cheers,
Martyn

The forum images are going to show whatever images your pulling. There are three cases maybe yours are pulling most views which would be those old images that seem to not exist.

Hope the feedback is helpful.

Steve not really a place for this comment in the middle of a support thread. Plus my personal site uses the PP8 beta.
I will say the icons are whatever size restrictions are in the forumicon vb4 class which is the class it uses. If I view the source of the page they are scaled 50% of the original size.
Your issue could be an IE8 thing

Right, back to the problems. The forum index still does not load any images, recent or otherwise.
Just assuming it is a probelm to do with the most views, how would I change the setting to be random for example?
I really am at my wits end just now I'm a novice at this and just now there seems to be no fix to the gallerys problems |

Martyn check to ensure that your data directory at every level is 777 permissions and the files exist. Here is an example from your forum page source of an image the block is looking for http://www.fiat-scotland.com/fiat/up...s/DSCI0065.jpg |

Trying to confirm just now, this is taking a minute (somewhere between a desktop and broadband connection both on their way out)
Almost certain I'm getting some error msgs but will confirm once FTP is complete.

Command: SITE CHMOD 777 516
Response: 550 Could not change perms on 516: Operation not permitted
So erm, yeh. Can't set the data folders to 777?

You might need ask your host.
If you have ssh to your server usually you cd to your photopost install and enter this command.
chmod -R 777 data
If your trying to do it via ftp maybe there is an issue with your ftp client or directory ownership but your host should be able to help.

Hi Chuck,
Folder 516 is the only folder in that directory which is apparently not set to 777. Could this be the route cause of my problems? (FYI its set to 666 so its definately the route of all evil. It's also an empty subfolder.) IS it ok to delete this?
Every other folder in /data/ appears to be 777 as required?
(From the ftp client)
Command: CWD 516
Response: 550 Can't change directory to 516: Permission denied
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

You using the beta software not the stable release of our software for one. Next you need to make sure that directory is set to 777.
If you sent me ftp info I might be able to fix it but my initial response would be use the stable release of our software.

Well, after all that the hosts 'changed some settings' and we're working again!
Server upgrade tomorrow too, so fingers crossed we'll be able to do multiple uploads at last!
