Anonymous Comments

I'm running PP7.1 integrated with UBB7.5.6. For whatever reason we have been getting spammed in PP like crazy from anonymous posters. I have looked at the usergroup setting and the Guest account has comments disabled. I've changed this field to Unregistered and it didn't effect things. I need some help figuring out why unregistered users are allowed to post comments. TIA.

Well what group id is your guests?

I would suspect your groups are not aligned properly because guests and users groups where changed between ubbthreads 7.0 series and 7.1 or somewhere around there.

View your forum groups figure out there numeric id and in your photopost usergroup editor we list groups in numeric ids 1-999 etc. Simply go down the list update any usergroup names accordingly and set proper permissions and you should be fine.

Hi Chuck,

In UBB the Guest account ID is 5. In PP the Guests is the 5th one down, although I see any numeric IDs. I've have tried this several times and it simply does not work.

what groups have comment access? I would suggest you turn one off at a time until you see which one removes the post comment link.

This is the issue as I see it in our file you may need to change this line as in the threads7.php file I see the guest group as 4

I guess it would be more helpful to tell everyone exactly what I did. In that line of code I changed it from 4 to 5 which was the UBB guest group.
