LOL yeah thought that but had to ask.

well the thing that got me about this whole vb new thing is yeah not a whole bunch of new features but when they do include one of two it is released in a .0x release. I do not know any company that does that. That is suppose to be merely minor bug fixes. The ckeditor was released in 4.14 strange is all I thought.

Yes, very true. They have reversed that though. So 4.2.0 is going to be new functions.
However, before 4.2 there are likely going to be a load of bug fix releases. 4.1.1x
Meanwhile they have been working on vb5 for quite a while, so that is coming. Possibly even in 6-12 months, if we are to believe the vague hints from vb staff. So its doubtful if vb4 will ever become something good.

Well yes they have been working on vb5 for almost 2 years now.

I do not expect anything huge and to be honest I think it will flop just like vb4 did. They lost a good deal of there customer base with vb4 and there is alot of people who stayed with vb3. I doubt customers are going to buy brand new $200 + licensing from there company every two years for a sub standard product.

yeah I will definately have to think twice when vb5 comes out what I am doing The only problem is I think Invisionboard is terrible and there is no other forum product that comes close to vbulletin.

I have to give it to Invision that they are developing rapidly in the right direction. I will likely pick up a full license for testing. I have already picked up a XenForo license for the same reason. Xenforo, while year(s) away from being a fully functional suite application. is doing everything right. Their attachment browser and html5 image viewer is the best I have seen. Their upload function is very good as well.

Well yeah xenforo is along way from being a competitor for sure. I have worked with Invisionboard with customer installs and some minor mods etc. There templating is clunky and difficult. The whole application is not really user friendly like vb is and they need a complete rewrite of alot of stuff. I really do not see them being on the right track till maybe version 5 and thats a couple years off.

I think you are going to find that alot of going to rid on the release of vb5 since they have even with the loss of some customers such a sheer huge market lead.

Yes, I think you are right. vbulletin will feel how many customers they have lost, when they release vb5.
