no upload warning message when larger than allowed

We have a lot of members from time to time that accidentally upload photos larger than we have set with is no more than 950k and no longer than 950 megapixels on the long side.

When their image is larger at the time of upload when they hit submit, the system just tells them the photo was successfully uploaded, yet they can't find it in their gallery. I know I have been on websites in the past where if I accidentally upload photos larger than allowed, the system will tell me my error when I hit submit. But PP doesn't seem to do that.

Is there a way we can have that error message come up so our members will know why their uploaded photos are not showing up? Even though at the time of upload, there is the text letting them know the allowed file size, most don't read it. But if there was a message about the error they just made, it may help.

I am sure we have some members who have this problem with uploads and never bother emailing us for help, they might just not come back again.

thanks

Taylor if it was a simple thing that a file could be looked at and is over a set upload size we do issue a message. Now your user would have to be uploading a file larger than your server allows in the php setup say 2mb. In that care the server deletes it before the software even knows its there to process hense you get a screen saying all images processed and nothing to view. There is not much software wise we can do about that instance since the file deletion is happening before the file can even be drawn stats from to issue a message.

thanks Chuck, that explains it
I didn't know about the 2mb limit that would delete the file.

I'll have to make the upload limit even more visible, like in the contest rules hoping they will catch it there.

You can alter your servers php settings in the php.ini file or have your host do it if you want to upload files larger than 2mb but thats by default the usual max allowed php upload size and the server actions take place like I said before software so thats why there is nothing to process.
