charset problem

Hello

Only in my randompal some German Characters are broken.
Trying UTF-8 instead of ISO-8859-1 Charset did not work.

Is it somehow possible to "force" randompal to show Characters correct ?
Maybe define ISO-8859-1 again somewhere in a template ?

Regards
Darwin

Possibly does this happen initially or using ajax?

What do you mean with "intially" ?
I tested it in serveral Browsers, with deleted Cache and so on..
Problem stays.

Check here.
Click in Randompal on Top of the Site for example on "Zufall" and then on "Neueste".
You`ll see then in some Picture Titles .

No, no Ajax in Use.

It views fine initially. It is not till you click a different type using ajax that it messes up.

I would suspect that it has something to do with maybe ajax passing a iso-8859-1 charset

Well Chuck, I didn`t find a Solution too.

The problem exists since updating to PP 7.0.3 a few Months ago.
I uploaded everything correct, as far as I know the only place the Charset is defined is the language File.

I updated now to 7.1, but since 7.1 has nothing New in randompal the Problem is ofcourse still the same.

I would like to do something like this:
If I would know where randompal is located, I`ll put directly in
Quote:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />
so I hope to force the Template at every new load using the working ISO Charset.

Is this a good idea ?
In which Template or File could I include this, where is the Code for randompal ?

Regards
Darwin

The charset is fine in the page as iso-8859-1

Have you tried making the charset in your german.php language file utf-8?

Yes, of course I tried UTF-8 in the German language File.
Desperatly, I tried it also in Headtags and Header. Without any Effect.

UTF-8 in german.php made it even worse.
Then at the whole Site German Characters where destroyed, not only in randompal.

well I need to do some testing and research. I know the german character set should be something different than 8859-1

Please keep in Mind that the Problem only exists in randompal.
Everything else works fine.

ISO 8859-1 should be fine.
It works on my 3.8 vBulletin, and it works on my PP 7.1 Gallery.
Except in randompal...

Do testing and research as lot as you are able, Chuck.
I will also do.

I tried now for serveral Hours to make sidebar_rightclose.tmpl show the correct ISO Charset. Without any Success.
I tried including HTML-Code as well as PHP-Code. I couldn`t get it working.

Althought it worked on PP 6.x, I hardly think it`s a Bug of PP 7.x.

My Users would really like to see the correct Charset, so I hope I can get any further Help here..

Regards
Michael

well I will meantion something to Michael but I think its something to do with ajax. It may be something with ajax not handling foreign characters.
