Identify pic's for sorting I would like to set up about a dozen "radio buttons" or "yes/no" drop downs for each photo uploaded, can I do this...identify the characteristics of the pictures via the buttons or yes/no's? The user would turn on the radio buttons or change the yes/no answer as a part of uploading the picture. Once the pictures are uploaded and the radio buttons turned on (or left off), or the yes/no questions answered, can I search the fields to find just the pictures that have the right button "on" or "yes" field given. Thank you! |
You can define extra fields per category to ask users on upload from admin -> edit categories. The main 6 additional fields are searchable but those are mainly input boxes. The additional extra fields can be input, radio, dropdown or checkboxes but they are not searchable from the search page. |
Thank you Chuck ! I added eight radio buttons to the sub-catagory. Probably need two or three more to finish it. Can we hire you to add them to the search catagories, so the results show all the pic's in that particular sub catagory, with the radio button(s) clicked on? Thanks again for the help. |
Not really sure how to add them to the search page which is why they are not. Michael added the ability to add unlimited extra fields but the way they are stored in external tables and in arrays kind of makes it impossible to search. I will keep it in mind and if I think of a way to make it work I will let you know. |
OK, I just want to make sure I am not missing something. I created a catagory called Honda (make of a motorcycle, also created Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley, etc.). I created sub-catagories within Honda to have a distinction between Cruiser/Tourers, and Sport Bikes. A person can upload his/her pic's to these sub catagories, but I want them to indicate approximately 10 potentially custom items they may have, such as handlebars, seats, mirrors, pegs, windshields, paint, etc. These items I wanted them to indicate OEM (original equipment) or non-OEM by clicking on a radio button. It doesn't have to be a radio button, it can be a yes/no drop box, or something else (as long as it is quick, simple, and clear). Finally, a person should be able to do a search for all the Honda Tourers, with the same radio buttons, used as search parameters. There is no way to get to this end at present? |
Please re read post 2 as I beleive I answered this. If you want radio, checkboxes or dropdowns you would use the additional extra fields per category however as I noted these are not searchable from the search page. You can search for data in the 6 extra fields which are input boxes as this info is stored with the photos table. The unlimited extra field thing is done differently. |
