Category-Thumb Issue

Hello

At my Main-Index a Category Thumbnail shows up even if the Picture itself is deleted.
Check Terrarienbilder.com; Second Row after Recent Photos, Third Category at the right, "Echsen allgemein".
The Photo shown as Index-Thumbnail is not existing in any Category.

For some Reason I`m not able to Reset this Category-Thumb to the latest uploaded Photo.
I tried Database-Scans without any Sucess. Where in the Database are these "Thumbs" located so I could change it maybe manually ?
How do I get Rid of this Thumbnail ?

Regards
Darwin

The image seems to still exist and the way the feature works it must still exist in your install you sure you did not hide it?

The thumbnail column has a numeric id of the photo and then we grab the photo info from the database so simply put it must exist.

Hello and Happy new Year !

Well, of course the Thumbnail exists, but not the larger Photo.
I`m not really sure if I did not Hide it. How can I check this ?

In Database Table pp_categories I see "Last Photo" and "Thumbnail".
I think both ID-Numbers have to be the same if the latest Photo should show up as Category-Thumb ?

Unfortunatly only at a few Categories the IDs are the same. Some Thumbnail-IDs are "0".
Even stranger that there`s no Effect in Gallery if I change Thumbnail IDs in Database.

Manually "Create Index Thumb" on Showphoto does also not work in any Category !

Regards
Michael

The large image exists too

The point I am making is that photo still exists in some category in photopost. it has to because of how we do category thumbnails. We input a photo id in a field in the categories table and get the photo info from that to display the image.

OK, I don`t know how to get Rid of this Thumb, but who cares..
Because of the other Problems I will change this Stuff manually.

Where, and in which Database Table are the Category-Thumbs exactly definated ?
Which ID must I use ? The Photo-ID of the latest Photo I guess ?

Thanks
Michael

You can view a photo in the category and hit MAKE INDEX THUMB when viewing the photo to change it. The feature is not designed to be always the latest photo in a category.

Unfortunatly, that`s not more working as I posted before:

The Function seems to work, I`m getting a Message "Index Thumb build", but in the Gallery-Index changes nothing.
Of course I deleted Browser-Cache, reloaded the Site and so on...

As a last Idea before I get Nuts, I will try to upload a new Photo into Categories and delete it again. In the Past that solved this "Thumb-Problem" which I had now a few times.

Altought I would be glad about an Answer to my Database Question !

Greetings
Michael

have you tried turning off your category cache

You are no doubt caching your results.

the field in the categories table that holds the photo id of the catavatar is called thumbnail I meantioned that in my initial post in this thread.

Sorry, I whish it would be that easy, but Category cache was in ACP at Global Options allways turned off.
Time for caching Index Data "0" and "Use photo viewing cache" also "No".

If I upload a new Photo the Category Thumb is automaticly set to this latest Photo. That`s fine.

What doesn`t work at all is:
  • "Make Index Thumb" at viewing a Photo doesn`t change anything.
  • Changing Thumbnail IDs in Database pp_categories doesn`t change anything (very confusing).
  • As I recognized now: All Sort Functions at viewing a Category are working no more (Check for example here).

If you are viewing an image and hit MAKE INDEX THUMB it will definately change the category thumbnail for the category the photo is actually in.

Remember the photo has to actually be in the category you want to set it the thumbnail for before you can make it the index thumb. If your in some sub category of a parent not the actual parent cat then basically what your doing is setting that subcategory the index thumb the one your clicking thats why your not seeing any change because your using that alternate gallery view and the only thing that shows there is that top level category

If you want to send me an admin login I will try it out but to see what I mean try setting your index layout to forum style. You will see a difference
