Footer - Error message

Permissions for the footer in the root directory have been changed to 777 but still same error message.

two issues based on your error

1. the footer.htm file must be writable via ftp set it to 666

2. you need to use server path to that file not url

I've now entered the correct path, no more error message, but for some reason the footer does not show:

If it is the full server path it would indeed show up.

You can use your data directory server path as a starting point and remove the data/ off the end

But for some reason, I just can't see it.

Its loading the html you have in there is set to be white text and your background is white
