cookie issue - not sure why

Ive been running photpost and VB on different domains for years
they are integrated and use a single login

After recent photopost upgrade its not possible to login to VB and have that apply to photopost and in fact its not possible to login to photopost at all since login link ( on photopost menu bar ) is gone and the photopost login from the header accepts the username and password BUT refreshes and photopost is not logged in

going to admin url allows photopost login but photopost index still shows not logged into the header

vb domain talonclub.com/forum
photopost svtgalleries.net/gallery

user test4
available

well I do not see with different domains how they where ever integrated other than a login but at any rate the only way the login would not work would be two reasons.

1. your license number is incorrect in the config to the application your integrating with hense we can not authenticate since the vb hash is also part license number?

2. you moved servers and your config files are not updated correctly so Photopost is integrated with the forum that the user exists in

Pick one of those two. I see number two alot meaning that people move servers and update there forum config but not photopost and as a result all new vb people can not be verified.

thanks chuck
The only thing that changed is the PP upgrade.
I opened the old config files and the new config files in beyond compare and they appear identical

I checked the VB license number it hasnt changed

Didnt there used to be a PP login link on the PP menu bar? I think thats what was working before and its now gone....

looks like even back in 2004 I had similar issue

There has not been a login link on our menubar if integrated with vbulletin in along time. it is suppressed in the code in pp-inc.php in the topmenu function.

You would need to alter than function to let the link display

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
You would need to remove the if clause.

well you might need to look into your vb setup if your referring to another different that logging into photopost through the photopost login box. Thats the only way to make login work on two separate domain names. subdomains are no problem. Cookies only work with one domain thats a limitation on cookies hense why you cant login to say one site and expect to be logged into another site with a different domain name. Things have always been that way.

vb has a whitelist feature which allows login but not sure if they are actually going to create multiple cookies with that feature.

If your showing your vb header over photopost which is on another domain name thats why your vb login will not work because it is creating a cookie on the domain name talonclub.com whereas your gallery is on the domain stvgalleries.net and only logging into the photopost through its login will work unless there is someway in your vb to create cookies for two domain names.
