I have not tried ftping files to your site no.
when you ftp files to your site you want to batch upload you must ensure both that directory and all files are 777 permissions.
I decided to check your uploads directory and low and behold all the files your uploading are 600 permissions. They need to be minimum 644 permissions but I always suggest 777 so you make sure there are no problems.
I think you will find as I note in this thread as long as permissions are set correctly you will be fine.
