Most Recent/Popular/Random box layout

I have the following setting in Layout Options:

Show recent photos in default location (bottom)? (if no, will display at top) YES

Show Most Recent Additions on Index page? YES

On the main gallery index, the Most Recent Box shows at the bottom as desired.

On a parent category index, the Most Recent Box shows at the bottom as desired.

However, on the subcategory index, the Most Recent Box shows at the top.

Is there a way to disable the Most Recent Box for a subcategory? or at least have it behave same as the parent/main gallery index?

What's a little strange is that if I have the setting "Show recent photos in default location (bottom)? (if no, will display at top)" in Layout Options set to NO, then Main Gallery Index and Parent Category Index shows the Most Recent box at top (as configured) but then the Most Recent box in subcategory index completely disappears.

The setting your referring to is for the index as noted under index options.

Showing features on a category page is only at top and you can turn off the showing of features on the category page under admin => show photo options the option to show features set to NO.
