Only want most recent photos in sidebar

I just want the most recent photos shown. I don't want random or most popular.

What is the best way to achieve this? I think that pal defaults to displaying random so if I could find a way to remove the most popular and random titles(links) I would still be left with random only.

Can I copy just to code to queries for most recent and put it in the custompal?
Any ideas?

sidebar only shows a random photo block. If your trying anything else you need to modify the sidebar templates to pull a latest photo block not random. There is no supported way to achieve something like that without code modification.

And by default it also includes links to "most popular" and "most recent".

I'm having some formatting issues with my sidebar given my 930px fixed width layout. The "most popular", "most recent" and "random" links are not displaying correctly due to my sidebar being too narrow. Is there a template I can modify to just remove the links to most popular and most recent that that I am left with just the random title?

You would have to modify the $group_title lines in pp-inc.php and showframe.php
